Social outrage from a more innocent time.
Some of the costumes got a smile out of me though.

5 stars just for the double-torso guy high-fiving himself.

This almost looks like a Manhunt-themed fighting game.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2017-03-09

PS1 era edginess. Blood splatter, tits and clown masks.

TheyUsedDarkForces - 2017-03-09

I played this on a modded PS1 many years ago and I don't remember the graphics looking this good.

Anyways, this game is actually pretty fun if you have multiple people to play with.

I wonder if I still have my review from when I used to write for a PSX mag.. the game was pretty much finished, so much that I felt confident using it to review the Wu Tang Clan game, which borrowed its engine, since Activision were horrible (probably still are) at providing press copies (in fact the only game I ever got from them was THPS1 about 4 months after everybody had already reviewed it and the hype went down) so maybe I'l ll give it a shot. The game's readily available for emu as you know, in fact I think it's one of the few times a developer has pretty much given their game to a Warez community, pretty much as a "fuck you."

The cancellation of the game was weird though: the goal in the 90s, for fighting games anyway, was to out-bloody Mortal Kombat: digital blood was the most valuable currency and probably the only reason the game received much hype to begin with. EA suddenly cancelled it calling it senselessly violent but that didn't reflect all the promo materials and hype from EA itself. And EA was the first company to have nudity (Wing Commander) and cussin', not to mention they'd later publish a game famous for a scene in which you shoot civilians in a crowded airport senselessness that went on to be their best seller..

This game was made by people who took acid and listened to Tool.

You mean I made a video game when I was in 7th grade once?

yogarfield - 2017-03-10

A: "It would be so cool to be a skeleton and kill somebody by launching a fireball up their butt."

B: "Dude, I have Fighter Maker."

Doesn't seem any more or less edgy than MK4.

Cenobite 3d fighting game

Crowbot - 2017-03-09

This game's engine was used for the Wu Tang PS1 game. The game also featured the song "Wu World Order" which I always heard as "Wu For The Border", making me crave Tacobell.

X-tra Liquid Swords on my Taco pleez

bopeton - 2017-03-10

Why are all the strippers so mad at each other?

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-03-11

I know I'm ignoring the main point here, but good god ePSXe filters really are a double-edged sword. You get rid of all the jaggies and pixelation but it kills all the details and makes everything look like unshaped solid colored blobs in the process.

TheyUsedDarkForces - 2017-03-12

Oh, so that's why it looks better than I remembered... I've never used an emulator for anything newer than SNES.
