Incredible. I've visited this place in dreams, I'm sure you have too. It looks more to have been accreted over time like tartar on teeth than crafted by hand.
A lot of big cities have this feel. Check out Philadelphia for this same feeling.

I'd like to say that the band Kowloon Walled City is pretty rocking. "Container Ships" is worth your hard drive space, no doubt.
The park they built in place of this monstrosity is quite lovely.
