Pretty tasteless, SolRo.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

Do you think he could have been saved if he had more guns and unregulated ability to buy more of them?

Gmork - 2017-01-01

Totally missing the point in favor of tired strawman.

Gmork - 2017-01-01

You wish death on people, I wish enlightenment on them.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

I'm not wishing for his death, I'm laughing at its irony.

So do you think this would have turned out identically if he was showing the teen a knife or a car, which are 'exactly as deadly as a gun'?

Gmork - 2017-01-01

I don't know about knives, but you're far more likely to die in a car crash than from a bullet. I'm also not here to discuss the minutiae of his death, I'm here registering my disgust with your glee at the death of another person. I find it sad he died before he could better himself, you are elated by that fact.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

No, you're not "far more likely" to die in a car crash.

We know you just pull gun "facts" out your ass but you could at least try making them plausible.

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_56991b31e4b0ce4964242c47

SolRo - 2017-01-01

And he was in his in his 70s, he wasn't going to better himself. He was going to keep defending mass gun use and homophobia until his natural death. So arguably the bullet did better him from society's perspective.

Gmork - 2017-01-01

Are you in a gang, SolRo? Because that is the only way you personally are more likely to get killed via bullet rather than car. Take away gang on gang violence and your argument is unsupportable. So, unless you're part of ms13 - yes, you are in fact more likely to die from a vehicular incident.

Nice huffpost article, jackass.

"And he was in his in his 70s, he wasn't going to better himself. He was going to keep defending mass gun use and homophobia until his natural death. So arguably the bullet did better him from society's perspective."

Let me translate for those who don't speak dipshit: "I don't like someone so I'm glad they died. I'm now going to laugh. HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Doesn't matter that we find his homophobia repulsive, and it doesn't matter that we agree a 70 year old man isn't likely to change his ways. That still doesn't justify your schadenfreude or your obnoxious tendency to inject your ignorant political agenda into everything.

How does it feel to be on the same level as the dipshits in the youtube comments?

Monkey Napoleon - 2017-01-01

Hey SolRo...

I actually read the source pamphlet linked in the Huffpo article. I was curious because I have read many statistics sources that say your interpretation of the Huffpo article is bullshit... and guess what?

The pamphlet explicitly says motor vehicle fatalities are higher than gun related deaths. It's a pamphlet put out by the Violence Policy Center, an anti-gun lobby group, so I can understand why they would put the spin on it that they did with mentioning "21 states" over and over.

The pamphlet's explicit purpose is to highlight how safety improvements in motor vehicles have drastically reduced fatalities, and suggests that similar safety improvements aren't and should be applied to guns (which is, frankly, fucking retarded).

Direct quote from the conclusion section of the pamphlet:

"The historic drop in motor vehicle deaths illustrates how health and safety regulation can reduce deaths and injuries that
were at one time thought to be unavoidable.
Such an approach to injury prevention has been applied to every product Americans come into contact with every day
except for one: guns."

Again, it never said that gun related deaths were more frequent than vehicle deaths and, in fact, explicitly states the opposite.

Please next time don't accuse people of pulling shit out of their asses while you are pulling shit out of your ass. Thanks.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-01-01

At this point, I'm pretty much wishing for their deaths, yeah. Look, it's like this. The airplane crashed, we're in the water. Fortunately, there's a rubber dingy, and we're safe from the sharks. BUT! Who's that idiot at the stern, mouthing off about faggots and liberals! He's bloody from the accident dripping into the water, raving, and attracting the sharks! Now he's cutting into the side of the dingy with a knife! Listen, we need to do something about this guy. It's not just his own life being threatened. It's all of us.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

2014

Gun deaths 22k

Car deaths 32k

While more, it's not sooo much more that you can make a stupid claim like "you are far more likely to get killed by a car"

For example, this jackass spent 70 years around cars and he wasn't in a gang, yet a gun somehow, completely inexplicably killed him!

Monkey Napoleon - 2017-01-01

Yeah, I mean 45% more on average *after* 100 years of engineering advances in crash safety that can't really be applied to firearms is barely anything.

Why don't we just ignore it and tell people it's actually less, being that it's such a tiny disparity of nearly half again as many, and accuse *them* of making shit up in the comments section of our morally disgusting submission.

I mean, we're on the right side of history so it's ok if we make hysterical arguments and lie about statistics, right? I'm sure there's no possible way that could come back to bite us in.... oh. Shit.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

That difference is close enough when you consider many many more people own cars than guns and use cars on a daily basis where as most guns are left fully loaded laying around a house waiting for kids to find them.

I'd love to give you statistics for a death rate per each type of ownership but americas gun lobby has made such statistics impossible to keep track of, and they'd likely show owning a gun is more lethal than just owning a car

Monkey Napoleon - 2017-01-01

" most guns are left fully loaded laying around a house waiting for kids to find them"

Ok.

Gmork - 2017-01-01

Fun fact: Take away SUICIDE gun deaths and your numbers fall even lower, SolRo. If you took away gang violence and suicide, you'd actually find that a very small percentage of ordinary people are likely to be killed by a gun.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

"Take away gang violence"

Because fuck minorities, only white peoole deaths matter, but not depressed white people. We should only count the gun deaths of good Christian white men with a net worth of $1 million or more.

Hooker - 2017-01-01

This isn't the time to make a fucking point.

Cena_mark - 2017-01-01

During the Trump years we'll need the Young Turks more than ever.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

When is then? Because the gun nuts say it's not the time right after a death and apparently it isn't the time any other time...so just shut up and give me more guns?

Old_Zircon - 2017-01-01

You mean the same Young Turks who spent the last month and a half of the campaign giving regular air time to the idea that a Trump presidency would be better for the left than a Clinton presidency because THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN MAAAN BRING ON THE REVOLUTION WEEEEEED.

Yeah, we definitely need them. Maybe they can team up with Nate Silver and, I don't know, Macolm Gladwell or something and create a "news by and for people who think they are far more clever than they actually are" new media empire for the left, since Alex Jones already has a lock on that shtick on the right.

Xenocide - 2017-01-01

It's funny that the media has turned on Nate Silver when he was practically the only poll aggregator who took the possibility of a Trump win seriously. On the morning of the election he concluded that Trump had a 1 in 3 chance of victory while almost all the others were proudly announcing that Hillary's win was 99% certain.

Oh wait, now I see why they all hate him.

Bort - 2017-01-01

Yeah, Nate Silver has been pretty good about using data models with successful track records and not pulling predictions out of his ass.

Cenk Uygur, meanwhile, still denies the Armenian Genocide, despite having named his show after the Armenian Genocide's perpetrators.

Nate's biggest sin is being imperfect. Cenk's biggest sin is being Cenk. You never go wrong mustering up contempt for Cenk.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

Video was subbed because it was the only decent video source of the story.

My submission of it is in no way promoting TYT or denying the Armenian genocide

Bort - 2017-01-01

"My submission of it is in no way promoting TYT or denying the Armenian genocide"

I never meant to imply that it was; if I gave that impression, my bad.

Hooker - 2017-01-01

"When is then? Because the gun nuts say it's not the time right after a death and apparently it isn't the time any other time...so just shut up and give me more guns?"

Look, I don't know what this is? It's nothing I said, nothing I've ever heard, and nothing you should take seriously. I'm just saying it's fucking gross to use someone's death to make your point. I'm responding to YOU, the asshole who went "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" when someone died.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

It's okay to celebrate the deaths of genuinely terrible people.

We've even done it on this site for people like Scalia

Hooker - 2017-01-01

If you freely admit you're a person who judges people based on basically no information and then takes joy in their deaths, then it sounds like we're in agreement.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

He helped promote policies that contribute to the deaths of over 20,000 people every year. And he even thought background checks are too much. Like a criminal that just finished serving a term for armed robbery should be able to buy a gun no questions asked according to this idiot.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-01-01

At what point does this guy have to take responsibility for his actions? Do I gotta give him the gun safety lecture I got from dad when I started shooting? Don't keep guns loaded. Don't point them at anything you don't want killed. Pretty fucking basic stuff.

In my daydreams, we resurrect the guy and get Bill Burroughs to give him some shooting lessons. End on the old william tell routine.

Gmork - 2017-01-01

"He helped promote policies that contribute to the deaths of over 20,000 people every year."

Complete horseshit. The policies you're referring to aren't responsible for gangs getting their hands on guns and contributing the vast majority of yearly gun deaths.

You're a living, breathing example of the notion that radicalism isn't healthy on either side of the political spectrum.

SolRo - 2017-01-01

Actually gangs get their guns from "responsible" gun owners and gun retailers "losing" or "getting robbed" of their legally bought guns in a back alley. They "lose" thousands of guns every year for a tidy profit.

But keep on being an idiot lying to himself and everyone else so you can make your dick feel bigger with a little steel tube

SolRo - 2017-01-02

Also I'd like to point out to hooker that gmork's ilk love to celebrate death, just see them gloating over news of a "good guy with a gun" murdering a robber or vandal or scary minority

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2017-01-01

Video sucks.
And while a single event / anecdotal piece of evidence is worthless in constructing an argument for or against any policy, this *is* however a very amusing event.

Nominal - 2017-01-01

Sorry, it is my duty to 5 star any anti-gun video once the ridiculous "more people die in car crashes why don't we ban cars?" talking point is brought out.

Waugh - 2017-01-01

why is that ridiculous
why don't we ban cars

SolRo - 2017-01-01

Because society would collapse?

I guess that's a good reason to keep cars around for now

baleen - 2017-01-02

Yeah I don't want anybody to die but the irony of gun worshippers shooting each other is not lost on my anti-gun self.

Please, everybody stop using guns unless you need them to eat food in the woods.

Waugh - 2017-01-06

that is the worst reason to keep cars

StanleyPain - 2017-01-01

This guy basically deserved to get fucking shot.

You never, ever, ever keep your weapons loaded. Period. I mean, unless you're in a fucking battlezone or something. But, if you ARE stupid enough to keep your weapons loaded YOU DO NOT HAND SAID WEAPONS OVER TO ANOTHER PERSON. Especially when that person is a fucking kid with no weapons training.
Gun humpers seem to think the "Safety" switch is some magical thing that renders guns totally inert, forgetting that many, MANY accidental gun injuries and deaths are simply caused by the gunpowdering triggering through other means or a faulty firing pin. A defective bullet can literally fire just by being jostled the right way in a gun.
But, yet another "sensible gun owner" who was just totally sensible..until he stopped being so. Thankfully he at least didn't take other people with him, the pigfucker.

Bort - 2017-01-01

I just bought a staple gun the other day and I treat it more cautiously than some percentage of gun owners. Staples have been removed, I made sure there are none in the chamber, I've locked it in the safety position. It's really, really not too much to ask.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-01

Did anyone else see TYT on election night?

Comedy gold.

Cena_mark - 2017-01-01

It wasn't funny. The Young Turks love this country and hated to see it go down the drain.

15th - 2017-01-03

TYT are garbage

Waugh - 2017-01-01

you people are nasty and stupid

Gmork - 2017-01-01

The majority of us are condeming solro's behavior, you fucking idiot.

Waugh - 2017-01-06

what's solro

Sexy Duck Cop - 2017-01-01

no see his political views differed from mine so it's okay

TeenerTot - 2017-01-02

I don't want *anyone* to die from guns.

alitheiathricechastened - 2017-01-02

it seems like if we wait long enough everyone who does elect to own guns will off themselves with accidental discharges. this problem might just take care of itself. we just have to be patient when one of us gets mowed down because Timmy Bowlcut or Glower McPerfectGentleman didn't get a prom-date and has to vent his frustrations on the public.

15th - 2017-01-03

The extremes of the Left and the Right are so similiar it's almost funny. Both think they are just and therefore their hatred and fantasies of violence are special, earned and a-okay.

Soiro, you care about people so much (anti gun), you've earned the privalage, no the right, to rejoice in someone's father, friend, son ect bleeding to death. He was full of hate too, but the wrong hate.
