So what's with the "Canada"? He's Filipino, and he seems to spend all his time in the Pacific.

animegurl1000 - 2016-09-26

He started his myrmecology business in Canada but has since moved back to the Philippines. He never changed his business' name.

animegurl1000 - 2016-09-26

Moved to, rather. Apparently he was born in Ontario.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

Wow, I had no idea he was so famous. I was wondering why all of his Related Channels seemed to be linked to Youtube Royalty like PewDiePie and that gamer person with the stupid green hair, instead ot the usual collection of smalltime ant-weirdos; I assumed he was just a regular nerd with a nice camera and a homegrown ant business.

Definitely a budding supervillain.

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-27

He said something vague in one of the recent ones aboutbeing amazed by how many people were watching him lately, so something definitely happened. A lot of his older, more technical ant videos have like 20k-30k views but the fire ants are escaping one has what, 20 million? It must have gone viral in some gamer-culture venue, that would explain the related channels too, since I assume those are based on what his subscribers watch the most.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

Oh, he knows what's going on. Pheromones developed by the top ant-scientists of the Fire Nation; it's all part of his sinister plan.

SixDigitDebt - 2016-09-26

The only thing you should feed fire ants is fire.

Gmork - 2016-09-26

I helped a friend get rid of a fire ant infestation with gasoline.

The key is to allow the gasoline time to mix with the air rather than igniting it straightaway.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

That's very unkind of you, Gmork.

Gmork - 2016-09-27

Helping a friend get rid of a fire ant infestation on his property is unkind? That's is nonsensical.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

Committing genocide with an improvised napalm weapon is unkind. It is good to help friends, but you should help them to coexist, not to commit mass-murder.

Gmork - 2016-09-27

Genocide is an entire race, this is a single colony. Gasoline is not "an improvised napalm". Napalm is a sticky substance that is quite viscous and does not fill the role that gasoline does.

There is nothing wrong with getting rid of an insect infestation - especially when you have children and small animals who could easily be hurt by them.

Your head is up your ass and you know it.

Bort - 2016-09-26

This guy does indeed love to spoil his ants.

TeenerTot - 2016-09-26

I'm not watching this. The stars are because it also showed up in my YT recommended list.

Simillion - 2016-09-26

i too am worried

Cena_mark - 2016-09-26

I hate roaches, but even I feel sorry for those babies. Their entire lives are just a brief moment of suffering. All they'll ever know are fire ant stings.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

Rather like children being raised on PG-era WWE!

homogenousemptytime - 2016-09-27

"of course my heart was weeping for these baby cockroaches"

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-27

The Ants Canada guy's excitement over his ants brutality is kind of what makes these videos. There's one where he's just cheerfully talking along while his crazy ants have a bunch of crickets lined up against the glass and ate literally pulling their limbs until they split apart while they're still alive. It's the juxtaposition of nature's horrible indifference and AntsCanada guy's bottomless reserve of cheer and enthusiasm that makes me keep watching these.

Xenocide - 2016-09-27

This is definitely a metaphor for something.

Um...student loans?

chumbucket - 2016-09-27

He needs to learn the lessons taught by The Sand Kings.

Bort - 2016-09-27

Five stars that have your face for the reference. I been thinking about that but I wondered if anyone would know what the hell I was talking about.

smoothw - 2016-09-27

Have my stars too for the reference, immediately thought of sandkings when watching the video

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

No clue what you're talking about, and searches aren't really helping, either. Explain?

chumbucket - 2016-09-27

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0667945/

EvilHomer - 2016-09-27

So it's like Willard, mixed with The Thing, and Treehouse of Horror VII?

That does sound like a really good analogy for AntsCanada, actually. Ghost stars for you!

Bort - 2016-09-27

Oh, I was thinking of the abridged version of the novel they published in "Omni" magazine. Some time in the future, a rich guy decides to get the ultimate in fascinating pets -- sandkings -- and proceeds to mistreat and torture them into forming angry, dysfunctional societies.

chumbucket - 2016-09-27

I think a Outer Limits based it on the story. Damn I miss Omni.

15th - 2016-09-27

So philosophical.

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2016-09-27

"i'm not gonna be a youtuber who's gonna sensationalize their predatory instincts!"

...

"OMG! COCKROACH GIVING BIRTH WHILE BEING DEVOURED BY FIRE ANTS"
