What... you mean read those things with all those words? Pffft. Sounds like work. I'd rather watch a meandering, chatty video where some dipshit gives his pet theories.

That's much more reliable.

I have read Marx and Bertrand Russel, and I tell you the LoTR are unreadable.

Kant would burn those books in anger.

In the 3 minutes this ran I think my neck spouted beard hair.

I can see the average LOTR viewer having mountains of questions that are not answered in the film...the movie is bad at explaining a lot of crucial things, but why Frodo has to leave Middle Earth is explained IN THE FUCKING MOVIE.

Anaxagoras - 2016-09-30

Yes, but who has time to listen to all those LOOK! SQUIRREL!

For someone trying to do the "HAHA LOZ RANDOM FUNNY YOUTUBER" bit, I'm surprised he didn't bring up the classic "why didn't they just fly the ring to Mt. Doom with the eagles?" bit.

MagickPoultry - 2016-09-30

I've always wondered why they just didn't use the Ring to destroy Sauron and then bring peace to Middle Earth.

Gmork - 2016-10-01

Because of the ring's power for corruption and blah blah.

Also there's a very good reason they never took the eagles to mount doom: They were going to, but Gandalf fell down the pit in Moria before they could get there.

On the other side of the misty mountains is one of the places the giant eagles nest at - and if Gandalf hadn't bit the big one vs. the Balrog, that's most likely where he was leading them to.

He apparently didn't bother to share his plans with them - possibly because he wasn't even sure if any of them were agents of Sauron.

Another possible reason: Nazgul. And the Eye itself might be able to work against them once they're close enough to Mordor. Zillions of bats and the Nazgul all attacking at once might have blown that plan.

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-10-02

The gist I got from reading it way back when was that they wanted to keep a low profile above all else, which is why they only picked nine knuckleheads for such a critical escort job instead of a proper army. Probably why they didn't just take the damned eagles either (and you know, tempting a proud, powerful creature with the fucking One Ring for the entire flight over probably wouldn't have been a hot idea). Really, being able to ruse an all-seeing evil right until the end was the only reason they even succeeded at all.

Or you could just read the books.
