Seriously, fuck this year.

We got past my car accident and all that bullshit for my partner to find out her sister has breast cancer.

And Gene Wilder, you will be missed.

Fuck this year so hard.

2016: The Year The Hits kept Coming....and coming

1394 - 2016-08-29

and always too soon.

kingarthur - 2016-08-30

It's okay. He's in the sky now. In the sky and making great odd couple comedies with Cleavon Little and Richard Pryor.

Rangoon - 2016-08-29

I wouldn't wish Alzheimer's on my worst enemy.

RIP Gene.

Quad9Damage - 2016-08-29

Shit, that sucks.

For some reason I thought he was already dead, but still. This has been a terrible year for losing good people.

Nikon - 2016-08-29

That's awful. 2016, cut this shit out.

il fiore bel - 2016-08-29

Wow, didn't realize he was that old.

Five for Blazing Saddles and another five for Gene.

And suck my balls, 2016.

boner - 2016-08-29

I read Gilda's book earlier this year. She really thought she was going to be OK all the way to the end, Gene never told her how bad it was. That was probably really hard to do. And now he kept his own disease private from all of us.

Killer Joe - 2016-08-29

Aw :(

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-08-29

What a lovely and remarkable man he was. Just think about all the great movies that this guy had a hand in. Young Frankenstein. Willy Wonka. Blazing Saddles. The Little Prince. His work with Richard Pryor was just magic.

Nominal - 2016-08-29

Silver Streak??

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-08-29

Stir Crazy.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-29

Was he in Willy Wonka?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-08-29

In Woody Allen's EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX, he played a man in love with a sheep.

blue vein steel - 2016-08-29

RIP Gene. Blazing Saddles is still the funniest movie ever made.

Ugh - 2016-08-29

good day sir

bawbag - 2016-08-29

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2016-08-29

2016 is just the beginning :(

The Mothership - 2016-08-29

Godfuckingdammit.....

Ninehells - 2016-08-29

I read the statement from his family. Despite the Alzheimers, he was still himself until the end and was surrounded by family. One of his favorite songs played as he took his final breaths.

All told, a decent death for a decent man.

Binro the Heretic - 2016-08-29

I want to rage and curse, but I think Gene would get upset with me but wouldn't even voice his disapproval.

I would just somehow know I had disappointed him and that would be bad enough.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-08-29

Don't just stand there grasping your hands in pain! Let's have a round of applause for the Waco Kid!

Mel Brook has made a shitton of bad movies, but Blazing Saddles was the kind of classic that changed the game so much, it's easy to miss its originality. The myth of the west being "won" by the white man was still a sacred cow in 1974.

Nearly everybody who was in Blazing Saddles has passed: Cleavon Little, Alex Karras, Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn, Dom Deluise, Slim Pickens... all gone now, except for 90 year Mel Brooks. What a cast! How can so many wonderful people be so alive and then be so dead?

kingarthur - 2016-08-30

Just for having been in and involved with this, perhaps the greatest American comedy, they were Titans among men.
