They took short stories from three different sources, spliced them together, added some improved special effects (e.g. the stop motion giant insect), and the whole God and the Devil on the Doomed train conceit, and the shittiest fake rock band I've ever seen. If I've seen a shittier fake rock band, I've suppressed the memory.
How about that train wreck at the end? You don't see special effects like THAT anymore!
My favorite part is the electric chair russian roulette scene, at around 38:00.
