"Don't try to understand"

We should all be so lucky to have the complete creative control he enjoyed to express his enormous skill.

Oh wait it wasn't luck, it took him serious effort to pull away from a major publisher in the first place, and constant, careful management of both private life and professional output thereafter. He was the Bill Watterson of music, and I can't wait for some buzzard to shit on Bill's work and life when he goes.

John, I don't know how you feel about Prince's music, but even if you're largely indifferent to it, thanks for at the very least remembering you're not cooler than a man who left this world a little better than he found it.

God, he was a terrible guitarist. I'll grant that he was a little more competent with a guitar than he was at writing lyrics, but only by the slimmest of margins.

I'm sure he was a nice person, though.

You're... wlecome?

I think his music was wonderful, though I never considered myself a fan. I didn't care much for the movie "Purple Rain" and that kept me at a certain distance all these years, but when I played this clip , I cried big wet tears, because it had been such a sad moment, and then suddenly, the music made me really happy, and the person who could perform this allchemy had just died. Itt was a complicated moment, and bit wet tears was the only thing I had that could fit all of it. I didn't cry when David Bowie and Lou Reed died, and they were supposed to be my heroes.

I guess I'm a fan now.

I think that a lot of people are going to discover Prince now, because everything that seemed baffling or weird or pretentious about him is no longer an issue. It's all about the music now, and right now, the music of Prince seems unimpeachable. I have a lot to discover, and I'm looking forward to that.

This one really went down hard with me, and I don't know why
