EvilHomer - 2016-03-08 It's a cadence. You "sing" it while marching or running in formation. They're actually pretty useful for breaking down inhibitions against killing, lightening the mood, and imparting valuable lessons about military strategy - in this case, the song teaches soldiers some of the many potential uses for napalm.
|
memedumpster - 2016-03-08 We all know whiskey pete is wedding confetti for the marriage of East and West, with the American soldier as Satan's bridesmaids, EvilHomie. Sheesh, we only pay for it and cheer it on, silly.
You know though, it's not unlike Lord Byron's poetry actually being drinking songs designed to build your tolerance to alcohol poisoning, or the many wonderful songs about quantum mechanics.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-03-08 Willie Pete, and that's different from napalm. The former is powdered white phosphorus and will not stick to kids (althought it may get in their lungs, and will burn them to death) while the latter consists of gelatinized petroleum, and as such will stick to virtually anything, including water.
|
memedumpster - 2016-03-08 My mistake.
Thank god we stopped using napalm!
|
|
memedumpster - 2016-03-08 Exactly, the problem isn't hammering, it's sympathy for the nail!
Well said.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-03-08 Oh, we can still use it! We don't use napalm much these days (mainly, I suspect, due to a lack of jungles in the desert) but it's technically legal to drop and/or spray on people, at our discretion.

This was my favorite PT cadence! Right up there with "Left Right Kill".
Good times, good times.

|
Baron_Von_Bad_Beaver - 2016-03-08 I remember a lot of the cadences we sang was during PT, and they were about either the inevitability of death during war, and the history of the Corps.
Some of the shit I went through during my tour in Iraq has given me quite a gallows sense of humor. Before I used to have idealized concept of us being the 'good guys'; now I believe that everyone is an asshole who only reacts to things emotionally with hate and vitriol. We are an abhorrent species.

Jet Bin Fever - 2016-03-08
I keep hoping that war criminals will just get old and die out (because they all mostly survived and weren't prosecuted), but then we just keep making more and more of them. The inevitability of evil, I guess.
|
Doc Victor - 2016-03-08 Funny, I keep thinking the same things about the 99% of the population too lazy and chickenshit to commit to national service, military or otherwise. I keep hoping that the empty rhetoric of politicians barely disguising their disgust or fetishistic adoration (FYI I'd take the fetishistic adoration any day) will eventually be overtaken by a common acceptance that JS Mill's take on war is fundamentally accurate and inherently tied to every advantage we as a society value and appreciate. In doing so, I can imagine that we might become less removed and self focused in the face of perpetual adversity, and perhaps better ourselves on the whole. Of course, this point is probably lost on someone who cannot comprehend that people in tough real consequence bearing situations might adopt sardonic humor about their day to day life, let alone offer something of value to society, you infantile, weasel-fuck, pussy.

memedumpster - 2016-03-08 No, dude, we get it, the Nazis wrote songs too. Everyone loves music.
Nice emotional explosion though in the face of a perceived threat to your territorial herd acceptance. Also, legally putting in place a mandate where one must be available to commit homicide on foreigners to be a citizen invalidates that country's existence.
You robot murder loving asshole.

Doc Victor - 2016-03-08 You got me meme if there's one thing I like more than murdering people, it's murdering robots.
Hear them metal niggas screaming at ther terror in the night
Son of the devil pull cards like vanna white
Johnny 5 breath leave him as my knife ease in slow
Put my 9 to C3P0's dome and let it go
|
memedumpster - 2016-03-08 Dude, if you made that up you should record it. That was awesome.
|
Jet Bin Fever - 2016-03-10 Yeah, I enjoyed it too!
And my comment wasn't directed at the song as much as Vietnam as a whole and war in general. Every war produces criminals who murder, rape, and profit.
You can call me a "pussy", though for medical reasons I was actually disqualified when I tried to join, which I'm -really- glad about in retrospect. I think it would've ruined me. I have a friend who may have finally kicked the heroin habit he got while in the military, or he may go back to it, time will tell. Another is an alcoholic. I also had a buddy get shot and killed in Iraq about his 2nd week there. So yeah, I'm a pussy, I guess.
Anyway, I liked your rap.
