They maybe right about Gallagher being "The Wrestler." Since this interview he's has two heart attacks, one of them on stage.

His comedy has now descended into that "has been/angry old man" zone where he is basically trying to be some kind right-wing funny man what with his quasi-racist jokes about Obama and all that shit.

He's basically really pissed off that his entire legacy is just the smashing fruit shit instead of his actual comedy act (which was still pretty horrible) so i guess now he thinks that the political edge will earn some kind of respect, but he really just comes off as part of that Victoria Jackson/Ray Stevens/Pat Boone type of thing where entertainers that don't matter anymore become these conservative "answer" acts that no one asked for.

This article was written in 2010, but it sums up Gallagher's set from the last several years. He'll will go on racist/homophobic/transphobic tirades, and then he'll Sledge-O-Matic culturally applicable food. The consensus is that everyone who goes to a Gallagher show comes back with a story like this one to tell.

He'll also suffers from a compulsive need to prove he's intelligent, so he'll throw in screeds about metaphysics and make fun of his confused audience for "not getting it." He slams other comedians for doing shit like drinking water on stage or not playing state fairs. He's also a dickbag to his fans after shows.

When Anthony (I think, I don't listen to this show) said Gallagher's schtick was invented by white people with water hoses in the 60's, I lost my shit.

If you go back and watch his old specials a lot of his jokes come off as chauvinistic. The only difference now is that he's bitter.
