Binro the Heretic - 2016-01-08
That could have been so bad.
I mean, it's pretty bad, but it could have been so much fucking worse.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-01-08
Read the video description. Its an exercise in backpedaling, Dunning-Kruger style , excuse making; I'm really a super-dope driving bro but circumstances conspired against me.
Also fuck anyone who considers driving their 1 ton, steel, carbon belching, death box, dangerously and over the speed limit on public roads as a 'hobby'
Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-01-08 Also he sounds like a little bitch. That makes sense, driving a car around, being all protected and cocooned within it and having the machine do all the work is not manly. Real men cycle, or run.

infinite zest - 2016-01-08 Then again joggers can be assholes too just like this. I remember it was my ex's birthday so we went to a restaurant and while we were outside having a post-dinner cigarette a jogger plowed into her, breaking her glasses. He just gave a "what were you doing there" look and kept running up the sidewalk.
EvilHomer - 2016-01-09 I disagree. While a case can be made that the man in this video behaves irresponsibly, I don't think he should get "fucked" for it. He is a human being, and his life is no less valuable than the lives of people who prefer boring, sedentary hobbies.
Also, as IZ points out, similar complaints can be raised against all kinds of people. Once this principle of righteous callousness has been established, then where (if anywhere) is the line drawn? Should our "fuck anyone" attitude extend out to joggers, skateboarders, and even happy people, skipping gaily down the street?
EvilHomer - 2016-01-09 (actually, I should probably say "righteous misanthropy", because I think we're becoming accustomed to going beyond merely not caring about, to actively wishing harm upon, people like this unfortunate young man!)

SolRo - 2016-01-09 Devils evilhomer comparing reckless asshole racing a 2 ton car to asshole jogger, implying both are just as lethal
EvilHomer - 2016-01-09 Neither I nor IZ implied that "both are just as lethal", nor are either of our arguments dependent upon such being the case! Quite the contrary, in fact: as I myself was asking in the very sentence SolRo either misread or misunderstood, "where (if anywhere) is the line drawn?" *Obviously* there is a difference in lethality between different sorts of reckless behavior - and a line is being drawn somewhere, a maximum limit of recklessness beyond which most of us now seem to feel that a human being forfeits his "right" to life.
Again, where is this line drawn? And why?

infinite zest - 2016-01-09 Yeah a friend of mine is into cars and does the same thing, takes his pimped out mid-90s Impala out to the racetrack on saturdays for a nominal fee. I've never come along but it sounds like fun, as there's also the rich folks with their Ferarris and such pushing it to the limit. Autobahn I'd imagine is the same way, but a hilly curvy road is no place for such things.
On a side note Purple Cat, I saw a whole U-Haul's worth of stuff like chairs, TV, etc. move via six bikes today, up a pretty steep hill, in the rain. Sounds more fun than the one time I drove a U-Haul and accidentally took off a garbage truck's rearview mirror going 20 miles per hour, for a 20-block move. I stopped and was panicky but they were really nice (technically it was both our faults) I just never drove one before. This was also right after 9/11 so between renting the U-Haul, being on the other side of town, stopping at the gas station for a sandwich, and being like "oh I can get some supplies at Best Buy and Home Depot" my bank called me up because I think they thought I was going to blow something up. So next time I move by bike.
infinite zest - 2016-01-09 I agree with the spandex though. If "PERFORMANCE" is your thing, then yeah, but people tend to just wear it for pretty short distances (I don't follow them, but we have the same paths) just for show. They're also usually the assholes vs. the dirty Portland hipsters like me with my bike I built myself. Then again, I saw some bicyclist I would label as a "hipster" riding his bike over the bridge I use with no hands carrying a cup of coffee. Like I really hope he's alright, but I can't even walk with a cup of coffee without spillin.

Lame. YOu can watch crazier shit on Liveleak every day.
dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-01-08 Yeah but not without the Resist.com grade comments. :(
somedongus - 2016-01-08 Oh yeah? Then post something ya whiner.
Anagramother - 2016-01-08 Post something is right- you're on the site, logged in and commenting, takes only slightly more effort to post than to comment.
You're kind of boxed in too by this kind of fuckfacery too, as if you are trolling, only a handful people are going to get "riled" up to a lukewarm degree.
Very disappointing. See me after class.
infinite zest - 2016-01-09 There is interesting dashcam stuff on LL, but I'll take something from an aggregator like JM before a video like this being prefaced with "MAN DIES When.."

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-01-08
Hearing one of these douche nozzles screaming "AHH OH NO" in terror when their retarded attempts to look cool at the cost of others nearly kills them is morbidly satisfying.

The Mothership - 2016-01-08
Is that a Forrester with a scoop? What the fucking fuck is that?
somedongus - 2016-01-09 It's a 2nd gen XT model, they came stock with a turbo and a hoodscoop of questionable utility.
Baron_Von_Bad_Beaver - 2016-01-09 Subaru always went with crazy and ugly with their performance models. Sure the WRX and STis are usually performers but man have they never looked good. Same goes for Mitsubishi and it's EVOs. What worries me is that the tasteless trends in appearance those cars have established will cement themselves into the DIY performance car culture for years to come.
The Mothership - 2016-01-09 Oh, right, that makes sense I guess. A lot of the boy racers where I live in the Bay Area rock Subarus, but usually the sedans. I just think of the Forrester as such a soccer-mom car that I can't even imagine a souped-up version.

TheOtherCapnS - 2016-01-08
I love the description, where he talks about being an auto enthusiast who takes pride in his loud exhaust, and how it sounds so much better in tunnels. I've always assumed people who have loud cars take pride in the loudness, but I've never seen proof/admission. God, that is just rock biting stupidity. The description is def worth the read, it takes the schadenfreude through the roof.

Adham Nu'man - 2016-01-09 "but the actual horsepower gains are usually pretty small."
I'm no expert, but the exhaust on my bike once fell off and the thing instantly started going considerably faster.
Cube - 2016-01-09 There's a whole South Park episode about that.
15th - 2016-01-09 I like loud cars that go vroom and muddin'. I also like high-brow stuff. I'm complex.
infinite zest - 2016-01-09 As long as they're not damaging the environment, I prefer cars and things that I can actually hear to electronic stuff that I can't. There's a streetcar that cuts right through the campus I live near that's electric and quiet, and it just kind of passes through there, almost quieter than a bicycle or pedestrian. Doesn't help that there's no visible warning signs in the immediate area, just a railing if you look down, and the kids all have their iPhones in.. at least I knew if a Harley was coming my way, even if it played over my music or whatever.
infinite zest - 2016-01-09 "Rail," not "railing." A railing would be nice actually.
