For those who have never heard of it, this is probably my favorite Christmas movie because it's so incredibly bizarre. The trailer makes it seem wacky but it is actually deeply depressing and is basically about a woman dealing with one tragedy after another and not having a complete nervous breakdown. I kind of related to it when I first saw it and I recommend it highly.

The movie begins when a man confesses to his wife he's taken out a hit on her via an assassin and she has to run for her life, and then a bunch of people she comes into contact with die by accident and she winds up having to abandon her son, who she meets fifteen years later when she has become a psychologist and he is a student at the university she works in, and he basically tells her about his mother abandoning him on Christmas as a child. It's one of the most strangely moving scenes I've ever come across in a Christmas movie and I would submit it if I could find it. She doesn't reunite with him or tell him who she is, because she doesn't feel like it would help him. She's been traumatized to the point where she is only able to come to terms with her past. The entire movie plays out in a series of almost hallucinatory experiences that seem like nightmares, so part of it could just be in her head.

I honestly don't know why more people haven't heard of this as it's so odd, but it deserves to be seen.

It is indeed bizarre and surreal. And every time you think it's gotten as strange as it can get, it gets stranger.
