"Be sure to drink your Ovaltine."

That guy - 2015-10-26

I got this reference, and not from recent memey stuff.

RedRust - 2015-10-26

Memory. not. good enough. to recall this reference. But thanks google for the refresher!

Kid Fenris - 2015-10-25

THE GREAT CONJUNCTION COMES!

fedex - 2015-10-25

Its that big-nosed alien spy from Star Wars IV.
Or a Kif.

I don't know.

That guy - 2015-10-26

I don't know, but the white spy sure has work to do.

...or is it a trap?

fedex - 2015-10-26

Always figure on it being a trap.

Old_Zircon - 2015-10-26

Plague doctor mask. 17th century medical equipment appropriated in the past few decades by the sorts of subcultures that like masked ball kind of stuff (so goths, steampunks, theater nerds, and the like).

So basically a very obvious choice.

The Mothership - 2015-10-26

Woah, obscure C. J. Cherryh reference.

fedex - 2015-10-26

glad someone got it on here

That guy - 2015-10-26

Is anyone else rattled by this, like.... maybe this is going to be the work of an actual super-villain ?

infinite zest - 2015-10-26

You never know, but my bets are on viral movie/game promo. I remember Blair Witch doing this sort of thing, and for the most part it worked, but since the studio was sending out promo material to every theatre it didn't take a genius to figure out it was fake (or you just needed to know someone who worked at a movie theatre). But, the hoax still got a whole bunch of people, since besides usenet and IRC there wasn't that much community-based communication available to the mainstream.

So flash forward 15 years, and a small package delivered to a relatively small website will get millions talking, whereas another attempt like BWP's will be immediately shot down and dismissed as "just another ____ movie/game/whatever this is."

Or maybe we're all doomed.

Corpus Delectable - 2015-10-26

Hey, Internet! Here's a thing we can all pretend to be "creeped out" by. OMG. Its' so creepy! Isn't it creepy! Weren't you just saying the other day that this was creepy? I was just saying today that this was creepy!

Good. Now I don't need to say "creepy" again for like another 6 months.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-10-26

Will someone replace that fucking fan belt, already!

Doc Victor - 2015-10-26

I voted this up, but only to voice my distaste at something so contrived

fedex - 2015-10-26

so hipster it hurts

Scrimmjob - 2015-10-26

I'm sure this will end up being some Viral Marketing bullshit, for what I don't know.

Maybe a special edition re-release of Charles in Charge?

That guy - 2015-10-27

I'll be glad when I find out that it's viral marketing and I'm stupid for being affected by it, because that will mean it's not made by a supervillian hell-bent on destroying humanity.

I'll live with the shame.
