After years and years of seeing the voices of younger, more open-minded voters gaining power, along comes a candidate who is seemingly unafraid to spout racist, misogynist, hateful bullshit. A candidate who wants to return us to the "glory days" when colored people knew their place, wetbacks stayed in Mexico, you could openly call people fags & queers and white people got all the good stuff.
It's going to break their hearts when he drops out of the race. He's going to drop out, of course. There's no way he could be President AND rake in tons of money for being a show-boating asshole. And when he drops out, it will be like Christmas was cancelled for them.

But where as Reagan appealed to the old, sweet Matlock-loving crowd, the older closed-minded folk of today are used to the yelling matches on Fox News and NBC shows like The Apprentice.
And I'm sad to say it, but I've got plenty of "young" friends who may know a lot about politics but then say "fuck it" and don't vote, or get high and forget which day they were supposed to send in their ballots by (it's different here, we do it by mail.) If there's one thing old people, regardless of political affiliation always do, it's get to the ballot boxes first thing in the morning.
But I hope you're right.

Bush: he was a joke, just another son of a president with bad grades from a "prestigious" school that was bought for him, and a known former history of drug abuse. And that's why (at least where I was living) the war was between Gore and Nader, with Bush hardly a blip on anyones' radar.
