I've become such an RLM junkie i started watching their twitch videos.

Aress - 2015-08-23

The Wheel episodes are hit and miss, and this one has some dry spots, but the premie baby and the grief clown stuffing pain into her oversized pants pocket saved it.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-08-23

That dog video failed to live up to its cover so severely that they didn't even acknowledge it at the end.

Siebenstein - 2015-08-23

This one was terrible. Especially the intro dragged on and on. The innuendo stuff got old quickly as well.

Smitty - 2015-08-23

I never make it to the end of these.

These all remind me of the Onion article "man in his 30s admits to no longer enjoying bad movies". At some point it just gets equally sad and boring.

I knew a group of nerds who would have weekly "bad movie night". Not even the fun kind of bad movie like MST3k or Birdemic, but the incredibly boring bad movies like Eyeborg. It was...equal parts sad and boring.

I could see this being fun with a total blast personality like Seanbaby, but the RLM guys just don't have live action presence.

EvilHomer - 2015-08-23

Oh, come on! The Canadians suck, but Rich Evans is the king of nerds, better than Seanbaby even.

urbanelf - 2015-08-23

There's nothing wrong with drinking before you watch BotW.

infinite zest - 2015-08-23

Seanbaby? Really?

EvilHomer - 2015-08-24

Yes. I enjoyed Seanbaby's work back in the day, and I respect him immensely for being an OG of internet nerd culture, but SB's "cool best friend/ Good Guy Greg" persona has nothing on Rich Evan's infectiously affable baby-man style. Seanbaby is cool, but he's a bit *too* cool - his coolness feels dated, and we in the audience know that the level of coolness he's achieved is out of reach for the rest of us. Rich is as a lot more relatable; fat, balding, capable of experiencing both crushing sadness and childlike joy within the span of a minute, he is the everynerd.

As for the other RLM folks:

Mike comes off as a bit of a workaholic dick; he's funny and very knowledgeable, but there's a dark coldness about him that can be quite off-putting. Jay is a Richard Hammond-type; likeable and non-threatening, inhabiting a mid-point between Rich and Seanbaby. AIDSMoby is an asshole, but in a very tragic way; I feel bad for him, because I don't think he *intends* to make his audience hate him, it just happens that way. He is not a terrible person, it's just the way he sees the world and his place in it, that makes him *appear* to be a terrible person. Jessi is cool, a Jay-type with more sarcasm, and I like that she's not a "hot chick" (as actresses in most nerd media are) because it's easier to focus on what she says! Hot chick nerds suffer from the same problem that Seanbaby does: that is to say, they are too aspirational, and their coolness can be too much to handle at times. And finally, I feel sorry for the beard guy, as much if not more so than AIDSMoby; he's not very good at what he does, but he tries hard and I really want him to succeed. I feel happy, REALLY happy, whenever beardguy manages to deliver a successful joke, or simply do anything besides repeat what one of the other dudes just said.

spikestoyiu - 2015-08-24

There's no universe in which a purple baby mohawk is "cool".

Spit Spingola - 2015-08-24

All this conversation is doing is making me want to see Rich Evans with Seanbaby hair.

Aelric - 2015-08-23

The bearded Canadian is never great.

StanleyPain - 2015-08-23

I like these guys and Best of the Worst, but this was a shitty episode. They really need to stop doing just ANY random tape. They need to basically just stick to movies, period, because random instructional videos and such MIGHT maybe reveal gold on some occasions, but by and large they are a waste of time for a discussion show like this.

Aelric - 2015-08-25

I dunno. The wheel was how they found S.O.S. and that was my favorite thing they have ever touched.

Spit Spingola - 2015-08-23

Grief clown lady's video, and laughing at it, is about the most uncomfortable thing ever. Especially when you read her life story which is basically everybody she ever loved dying too soon.

I love everything about the backyard stunting video, though.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-08-24

Pleasant low key stuff. This must be what it's like to have friends.

RockBolt - 2015-08-25
