A show about Meg would probably be the most violent program on television.

Xenocide - 2015-07-03

Just 30 minutes every week of her getting hit in the face with blunt objects while the wisecracking cat lists off the names of old sitcoms from the 80's.

Ted 2 was a box office flop, so with Seth's movie career in the shitter this show is probably going to be announced any day now.

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-03

I don't think Family Guy fans would appreciate that kind of high brow material.

You know, I turned out randomly catching A Million Ways to Die in the West not too long ago and I'll admit I was a little intoxicated but I thought it was pretty good, or at least funnier than most R rated comedies. As for FG, I only have that on because there's no cable at work and I'm usually doing something else so it's just kind of mindlessly on while I'm doing other things, but I did see a really interesting episode where there's a hurricane and Brian does mushrooms and there's some really cool tripping sequences and then Meg freaks out and tells her family to fuck themselves, making them all cry and turn on each other at which point she realizes that their disdain for her are what keeps the family together so she goes back to being the family punching bag.

I dunno, I'm not really defending the show. There's better things to waste your time on, but I will say that the show has remained more interesting for longer than The Simpsons (which relies almost entirely on celebrity voices to disguise the fact that there's no plot anymore) and South Park (which is so "what happened this week" topical that you might as well not bother catching up on reruns if you missed it). I mean, the throwaway flashbacks are still a big part of the show, but they've gotten better than what they used to be which were basically the same dumb lazy writing as The Critic's movie parodies.

Yeah you read that last sentence correctly. Before you get your pitchforks out I'm not saying that I didn't like The Critic, but face it: Family Guy got cancelled and everybody I knew mourned it. Then it came back and now everybody hates it. The same thing would've happened if The Critic stayed on the air for as long, with writers coming up with such comedy gems as "The film Magic Mike XXL was not screened for critics, but they did send me this box filled with gummy rocket ships... nom nom nom. THOSE AREN'T ROCKET SHIPS!!" see it's pretty easy.

This is basically what they want on the show:
No Offensive Jokes
No Political jokes
No Cut-away gags
No Breaking the Fourth Wall
No Surrealism
and focus more on Meg's talents like bird calling or singing whatever else she does.

I always thought that the Simpsons should've ended around the time of the Spinoff Spectacular episode and just gone with those, one of which being a very sincere show about Lisa growing up. I know the show does that from time to time but its non linearity ruins it: now she's just an 8 year old again. I dunno. I think The Cleveland Show was basically "let's see what Fox will let us get away with." Seems like a writer on his or her last day was just like "throw in a fucking talking bear while you're at it" and it went in the show.

But while Cleveland's just sort of a stereotypical attempt at making The Jeffersons out of All In The Family, I can see a lot more people identifying with Meg. Unlike Lisa, who was at first a fairly ignored boring member of the family compared to bart and homer, she quickly became accepted. And Meg's the opposite. The family loved her (for the most part) in the early episodes and it de-escalated as it went on. And I think a lot more kids can relate to things like your friends turning their backs on you then they would a little nerd girl who could.

Then again fuck if I'd watch this show.

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-04

I didn't like The Critic either.

Rosebeekee - 2015-07-03

Chris-chan has nothing to do with this? Some of that artwork looked like his style.

EvilHomer - 2015-07-03

The art is pulled from a number of sources; I recognize a few pictures (the Megkitana one, for example) from DeviantArt. Digging around, it seems like most of the pictures were made by a user named Raptor1989, whose page sadly no longer exists, because he got himself banned (for posting porn?) back in 2013. That kid with the distracting lightning bolt hair who looks totally like an author-insert OC, that was his author-insert OC. The rest of the pictures seem to be either screencaps or fanart from various other Meg Griffin enthusiasts. The person who actually put this video together was probably Stewielk21, a Tartlet who ran his own Meg Griffin fan group... until he was also banned. Not sure if Chris was involved.

Which pictures look like CWC to you? Post a timestamp and I will see if I can locate the source. I doubt any of these were actually drawn by Chris, but you never know; he is obsessed with Meg Griffin, and a Meg Griffin Show would definitely be something he'd mark for.

As it turns out, he really, really liked family guy and tried to spin off his characters into it. Of course.

EvilHomer - 2015-07-03

You saw this, right?

Family Guy style art, and then he starts pitching his episode ideas at 3:30.

memedumpster - 2015-07-03

I can imagine the Meg Show lasting one season and it ending with a Daria crossover in which Meg and Daria date, only to have Daria clean out her bank accounts and abandon her in the last episode. The final shot will be Daria turning towards the camera as she leaves the bank and saying "what, you've never seen a cash grab before?"

infinite zest - 2015-07-03

Meg and Hailey hook up and want to have a threeway with a talking fish played by Kevin Hart. But not before Cleveland has anything to say about it. Turns out the fish only likes Pescatarians for all the obvious reasons and mistakes Joe for a fish and tries to fuck him.. I dunno this shit kinda writes itself.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-07-03

The video description is great. It reads like CWC wrote it.

It's almost hard for me to believe that there's another person out there like Chris who is apparently alll into Family Guy but hates the way Meg is treated and thinks she's some great character. Yes, Meg, the character who's entire role is a whiny punching bag.

EvilHomer - 2015-07-03

My ex hated the way Meg was portrayed, too. Granted, she wasn't a diehard fan of Family Guy in the first place, but she'd watch it on occasion, and she'd always sympathize with Meg.

She also loved Joss Whedon and hated Beavis & Butthead, so obviously the problem was: she was insane.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-07-03

Jesus Christ she must have given one hell of a hummer.

bopeton - 2015-07-03

Jesus this is eight minutes long? I watched 2 minutes and am just gonna 5-star it. Did I miss anything?

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-07-03

Aside of more sad fan art? Nope.
