It's beautiful.

Well, most of it. Could use a NSFW warning, on account of the Cutie Mark / Ghetto Virginia Bounce clip.

the Akira Theme is the Guile Theme of making stuff epic

badideasinaction - 2015-02-24

Description edited for warning. I forget this office is way more lax with this sort of thing.

Who would Kaneda be? Chris would be Tetsuo, Megan would be Kaori, Sonic would be Akira, and I guess the Colonel would be either Michael Snyder, Bagget, or Mary Lee Walsh. But he doesn't really have any Kaneda figures.

Unless Chris would be both Tetsuo AND Kaneda; like, Tetsuo is his blossoming Crystal/Naitsirhc rapist side, while Kaneda is his slightly less creepy side (not sure precisely what that would be, but I'm sure he's got one)? Anna McLerran might be the only Kaneda left for his story, at least since Patti-Chan died.

I originally considered submitting this version I made in Youtube Doubler, but didn't think it'd get through the hopper:

Well done.

Crab Mentality - 2015-02-24

Genuinely painful to watch.

Happy birthday, Chris!

Maggot Brain - 2015-02-24

This may have been the only time I've wanted to hear John Lennon's "Imagine."

badideasinaction - 2015-02-24

It's like the weeaboo/fandom version of "Requiem for a dream".

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-02-24

Now I know what he was singing in the Mr. Virginia Ghetto Bounce video.

infinite zest - 2015-02-24

The Genesis of Chris Chan? Just one? Knowing what I know about the man, he's probably burned through many a Genesis over the years.

Nikon - 2015-02-25

There was also the Neon Genesis of Chris-chan.

joelkazoo - 2015-02-25

Gonna be the Debbie Downer here:

Chris-Chan needs to take an indefinite break from the internet and get his shit together. He has genuine mental health problems and the trolls are only exacerbating them under the guise of him "faking it" and being "deserving" of ridicule, since everyone on the internet is a licensed psychotherapist who can make those calls. I genuinely pity him and take no joy in laughing at him, and can only shake my head in disapproval at his continual insistence of putting himself out there and the people who enable him. The best thing for him is to be put in a group home where he can be properly medicated and find him a job outside of the customer service industry sorting glass or the like. I'm not asking for a miracle, I just want everyone to take a breather and find something or someone else to laugh at for a while. If, say, 5 years down the road, Chris-Chan feels the need to come back and the trolls are still chomping at the bit for a chance to continue to humiliate the guy, then fine.

kingarthur - 2015-02-26

Here here. They need to stop tormenting the guy at this point and leave him be. He needs something like a group home.

EvilHomer - 2015-02-26

Chris doesn't need a group home; group homes are grim places, suitable only for short-term transitions, or as one final, cynical option, when all others have been exhausted. Being a ward of the state would keep Chris comfortable and somewhat safe, but they'd simply be warehousing him until he dies.

What Chris needs is more e-bay sales and better exposure, preferably to the as-yet non-malicious public at large. If he got a good PR agent, someone who could successfully "sell" Chris to the media, the academic world, or even just the daytime television circuit, as a kind of autistic Internet Age Robert Crumb, then I firmly believe Chris would be able to both support himself financially, and to live his life, fully and happily, in a manner of his own choosing.

Chris is a creator, he needs creativity in order to survive, and empowering him to explore his own creative potential is, ultimately, the only thing that will ever truly help him.

TeenerTot - 2015-02-26

I have a feeling that Chris's inability to leave the internet would take down the group home with him. Imagine a house full of vulnerable people trying to live with this stuff.

Quad9Damage - 2015-02-28

An old couple, including a father who'd already lived his life and a hoarder mother, had an autistic son whom they didn't know how to raise so they allowed him to play video games without making him go outside and then later they got an Internet connection without making him go outside then either. With the proper guidance he could have been shaped into something useful. In its absence he's become a perverted lunatic with an arrest record.

This really needs to stop. I've been saying that for years and I know it never will but seriously. It needs to stop.
