I got this game for a couple of dollars probably 18 years ago, and it's actually pretty good if you like point and click adventures, was pretty funny and the music was cool. I don't think I ever beat it though, or if I did I can't remember how it ended.

There were also some cool action sequences that kind of predicted games like Guitar Hero and Beatmania if I remember correctly.

I loved this game, never could beat it with a good ending. It turns out, if your playing the windows version, there is a bug that prevents you from solving the game and getting the best ending.

uhhh.. yeah, that's the reason. The bug thing.. yeah.. honestly I can't think of too many games I've played all the way to the end, Return to Zork and Battletoads being two exceptions. I must be a masochist. For the most part I was absorbed with Warcraft 2 on a 28.8k modem.

HOW THIS INSANE GAME WORKS
(note: as noted, the Windows version has a bug that prevents complete victory - you will need to use a Mac emulator, which means finding TEH ROMZOR LOL.)

THE STORY: In an alternate past, strange devices appeared from out of nowhere, and their technology was swiftly replicated. After much testing and loss of life, it was discovered that they did two things - rendered their users unconscious for an extended period of time, and sent them to alternate universes. The universes were mostly based upon human culture. It was theorized that the technology can only send people to universes created by human minds when many people dream the same dream. Cartoons, Elvis... even grunge music. And that's where you come in. You are a music video director who has recently inherited a large sum of money, and used it to commission a Personal Media Tower and a one-way trip to the grunge universe, the Distortion Dimension. You mission: to film music videos, sell them, become rich and/or famous and buy yourself a trip back home.

THE GAMEPLAY: This game is a combined adventure game, RPG, simple video editing suite and simulator. You must buy and carry food and drink to stay conscious and keep rested (and defeat your nightmares as you sleep). As you adventure through the Distortion Dimension, you must use your video camera in every location. This will add every video file that plays in every view at that location to the database of usable video clips in your video editing suite. You must make music videos and sell them to three prospective buyers to make money (the buyers have different tastes - every clip is secretly tagged with its subject matter. You can ask them about what they like, and read about them via your bookshelf). You can also buy clips with money, and get more songs by recruiting any or all of the three musicians in the Dimension. There are also guitar battles in the adventure portion (and different kinds of guitar to buy and battle with). And, of course, the terribly likely possibility of death.

Edgar Death was the best. Child of Evil... yeah... watch me decompose... yeah.
