Without context, the preview image makes it look like Snuffy and the other two characters whose names I don't care to remember have been hanged.

sasazuka - 2015-01-04 Oh, "Google" is actually interesting.
I reckoned all the supporting characters in this strip/cartoon had names like "Ma" or "Jim-Bob". (While the Montreal Gazette had some King Features Syndicate strips like Hagar the Horrible and Blondie, I don't ever remember them having Snuffy Smith.)

I'm sure one could find some Cartoon Brew post about how this is a masterpiece of animation, superior to anything seen in this dissolute modern era of My Little Pony and Bratz Monsterz Girlz.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2015-01-05 I'm hoping that's a trend that has died out. After all, we never saw the "Popeye" reboot or "Felix the Cat" after Dreamworks bought it, so maybe even the suits have figured out nobody wants to see that kind of thing.

So...it's Squidbillies?

BHWW - 2015-01-05 Snuffy Smith was added to the Barney Google strip originally back in the 30's when "hillbilly humor" had become a thing, as seen with the popularity of efforts like Al Capp's Lil' Abner and the dozens of other wannabes and one-offs and such in various media for every Snuffy Smith or Abner success story.
