I stuck another wolf/dog-themed animation in the hopper, so as to help put the current state of Wolf: TAF in perspective.

The forums still exist, too. They've been almost completely abandoned since 2009, but they are still perfectly maintained, perfectly preserved. One or two moderators continue to haunt their halls, posting lonely updates once every three to six months for nobody in particular to read. It's desperately sad, like something from the mind of TS Eliot... if he were a furry.

-------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------

It came to me as a bit of a shock this morning that I (Uzuri) have been with this project over 10 years.

Now my official date would have been sometime in January of 2014 -- I could probably figure it out exactly by looking at my forum join date, but I'm lazy, so I won't.

I applied as a story-board artist, weaseled my way into script work, started animating just for the hell of it, and then somehow ended up taking on a good bit of the administration. Pretty sure that if you did the forensic work it comes down to me having a big mouth, way too much confidence, and rather too much time on my hands.

Anyway, what triggered the thoughts was watching the scene 2 rough cut... mostly because I'm utterly shocked at how much better an animator I am these days. I guess doing something repetitively really does improve your skills. Some day I'll have to figure out exactly how many frames I've drawn for this project.

On the other hand, maybe I don't want to know.

Wolf has been a huge part of my life for these last 10 years; there's not a single day that goes by that I don't think of it in some manner (even if it's just because I spotted one of the doo-dads I brought home from AC or the character magnets on my fridge or I deal with a contract or a crit or fight with YouTube). I expect it to remain so for another 10 years; I'm not sure what I'd do if I stopped working on Wolf, to be honest. Probably drop dead in my tracks. I've become one of those people who do something all their lives and then can't retire.

But I guess if there's something that I had to take up in that manner, I can't think of anything better than this.

Fuck, now I need a drink.

So.. this is the same as the Ghost Dongs one, right? Honestly I would've preferred a CGI movie than an animated one (although the animation's pretty good) with the same sense of humor as the original. It probably would've been easier to make too.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-15

Yes. A bunch of poe-Red guys made their own scenes from leaked Wolf: TAF storyboards, and Ghost Dongs/ Eagles Are Sneaky Birds was arguably the most popular one.

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-15

Fucking hell, I've been on some variant of PoE for at least 15 years. How is it possible?

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-15

"Wolf has been a huge part of my life for these last 10 years... I expect it to remain so for another 10 years"

Ok I feel better now.

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-15

IZ, Ghost Dongs and any other humor was entirely PoE as described above. The Wolf team has been serious business from day 1.

Let us not forget that brilliant work of art where some user that I totally forgot (I want to say Portaxx, but I am not sure) took the actual Wolf comic book (or at least, part of it off of deviantart or something) and then re-did the dialogue into pure awesome. I seem to remember someone from the Wolf project eventually finding out about it and doing the usual LAWSUITE threat.

infinite zest - 2014-12-15

Wow. All this time I thought it was a real CG storyboard that got leaked!

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-16

I can't remember whether the leaked storyboard was just pencil drawings or whether it was an actual animatic made with pencil drawings, but I do remember that from a purely technical perspective it made the PoE CGI video look like a Pixar feature.

Rosebeekee - 2014-12-16

@StanleyPain I think I know what you're talking about, but it was a different wolf comic called Blackblood Alliance, although Portaxx did redo it. You can find it here https://encyclopediadramatica.se/Kay_Fedewa

StanleyPain - 2014-12-15

BLESSED LUNA PEB...uh you know what it's just sad this is still going.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-12-15

I'm completely serious when I say that animation, and the long-lost source of "BONK", were the best things to come out of this whole affair.

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-15

The Furries' very own Duke Nukem Forever.

Hailey2006 - 2014-12-15

Looks like we found our next Foodfight!/Delgo

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-12-16

I look at all this work they've thrown into their efforts and I wonder if they could've finished something by now if they hadn't started out so obsessed with looking so much like a Disney movie.

There's probably six seasons of South Park worth of actual elbow-grease in here.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-12-16

Yay, it still looks like shit!

cognitivedissonance - 2014-12-16

Eagles, they are sneaky birds.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-12-16

My god, how is this still trying to be a thing? I thought someone would have Light-of-Courage'd the whole project into a laughable grave years ago.
