Thanks for making me aware of this novel, I'm off to the library first thing tomorrow.

You won't be disappointed. It's an excellent rebuttal to Starship Troopers.

An excellent and profoundly boring rebuttal. Also, in real life, physics nerds with IQs of 150 don't make good soldiers. Can't believe that shit was written by a combat vet.
There's a great nonfiction book of the same name, written by Dexter Filkins, an embedded reporter's grunt's-eye view of the current War on Terror. It contains some of the best-written and most accurate accounts of modern urban combat I've ever read.

I've read Starship Troopers, and Ender's Game, and I'm guessing this book here is somewhere inbetween them, give or take. Still sounds good, and thanks for the crit, as I know you are both people who know something about war and that.

He also co-wrote Robot Jox with Stuart Gordon so the man obviously has some range.

Just finished re-reading Stranger In A Strange Land and I can't believe both are written by the same guy. I honestly don't know what to make of him, except that I grok he liked to push people's buttons.

Also, I remember liking FW, but not much else. I'll have to read it again. That's what happens to your memory with old age. The important thing is, I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time and so on.
