On the bright side, this means you can pull off Lex Luthor's land scheme without having to hijack any nuclear missiles.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-11-19

Yeah, at this point the world would probably pay Lex Luthor for his schemes to freeze part of the Earth. His thanks would be getting all of Florida. A small price to pay for beaches everywhere.

My condo happens to be just above the worst-case-scenario future water line, so yay me and my long-term planning.

I dont really know what to make of this data. Seems like seasonal eb and flow to me, cause i dont know anything. How are we fucked?

My mom and dad and myself lost absolutely everything in Katrina. We went from upper middle class to homeless over night. My dad's entire life, from 1941 to now has been spent moving further inland from a barrier island, to a coastal island, to the waterfront, to now a block up from the waterfront in the ghetto because it's all we can afford on three incomes here in coastal Mississippi. My mom and dad had to come out of retirement and go back to work full time. My dad is 73. They don't want to leave the coast, but I'm pretty determined to get out of here because, frankly, I can't go through that kind of psychological loss again. I personally lost my chance at a PhD and had to start over from nothing and I'm still living at home in my 30s because of it.

So yeah, this kind of shit I feel personally impacted by. And yet we still have assholes here in the Katrina devastation zone on right wing radio who insist climate change is a hoax. Despite the extremes of heat and cold we're seemingly getting routinely every year now.

Oh, and I got to keep all the student loan debt plus late fees and interest, hop from temp job to temp job for six years, and get nearly charged with a felony by our conservative nutballs in Jackson because they assumed anyone who filed unemployment after Katrina was lying. So I got no unemployment at all because they took it all to pay back the unemployment I supposedly "stole" from them by getting my job wiped out in Katrina. I was also in the middle of clearing up an identity theft case from undergrad that I was finally able to get completely cleared up this year, 14 years after the incident.

Jesus, fuck my life. Just rape it top to bottom and leave it dead in a ditch.

kingarthur - 2014-11-19

OK, I don't mean that, but I was suicidal for a few months after Katrina and got two trips to the state mental hospital to show for it.

Maybe I should write a book.
