I've submitted a replacement for the original anime version of this scene: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=40800
In that version, it seems that Job knows about the bet. In this version and in the Bible, well... actually, I'm just going to submit the relevant scene.

I just realized that a big chunk of the Old Testament occurs before Satan's heel turn: Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and the Flood all happened while Satan was an employee in good standing in JHVH Inc. That means there must have been a point at which Israelites were walking around minding their own business, when suddenly there was a war in heaven and then the Israelites started thinking "I'm gonna be a badass and bear false witness against my neighbor".

|
Bort - 2014-11-06 Oh sure, I get that the Old Testament wasn't built as a unified account from start to finish; but for people who try to read it that way, it means that Satan must have fallen some time between Job and Jesus.

|
Bort - 2015-09-30 The serpent is never identified as Satan in the Bible. Later readers have assumed that ALL the bad guys in the Bible must be Satan in different guises, but as I just realized, that doesn't hold up at all.
The Book of Enoch seems to be where the war in heaven occurs, but sadly the Book of Enoch is apocryphal. Also, Enoch becomes Metatron, the most inherently metal of angels.

Was reading up on Job, and this bit about him being "a righteous man". Job makes a case for his righteousness, and it almost sounds alien by typical Christian standards: Job helped the poor and the widows and the sick and the blind. Nowhere does Job make his case along the lines of "didn't watch gay porn" and "went to church instead of watching football".
