Dupe, figures.

Eh, the old one's 8 years old and is long expired, posted during a time when Vince Gilligan was doing shit-nothing. I feel like X-Files got a lot of shit for becoming what it became, but interest was revisited with the success of Breaking Bad.

The bad parts of the X-Files (everything related to the overarching alien cover up plot, especially Mr Cancer Man here) were there from the start. I think it got shit when people realized there was no payoff at the end.

The GOOD parts (monster of the week) were novel in the first year or two, became brilliant during the Darren Morgan years, then...petered off somewhere around season 5.

Okay yeah even the monster of the week episodes got bad near the end :(

Ehh, I enjoy the conspiracy stuff too up until maybe season 5, although the first two seasons are the only really consistently good ones. I don't think I've watched anything past season 5 ever, but I'm all for no payoff, and I wish more shows would do that. Ambiguity is what makes the good parts of the X Files good, and why it went downhill so fast once they started revealing too much. The first season is great because they never really commit one way or the other to anything.

Oh Zirc, you are missing out on some BAD tv.

It's on Netflix right now. Go check out the episode "Scary Monsters" from the last season (where Duchovny is replaced by Robert Patrick). It has tons of laughable scenes as it tries to ineptly ape a Twilight Zone episode, and the blonde FBI agent just might be the worst thespian to ever appear on the show.

Old_Zircon - 2014-10-16

Oh I'm sure I'll get to it this time around, I'm about halfway through season 4 right now.

Ever since I got that Wavestation, watching X Files seems almost like a duty.

I was always able to catch it at a friend's house when it was on Friday nights, but when it moved to Sundays not so much, I was slammed with homework, etc. and the series finished up my second year of college, so really I had only seen up until S4 or so. I didn't know this until just now, but the bulk of Gilligan's writing is S5 and on.

Is this zoomed in or cropped weird? Felt like I was getting a little too close to the Cigarette Smoking Man's face.

Still, five for the clip.

5 stars for anything that shits on Forrest Gump.

Whitman's isn't as good as it used to be when it was made in Philly, but I do appreciate that the Samplers still come with a map on the underside on the lid explaining what each chocolate is. Just locate the Solid Chocolate Messenger Boy in the center, and navigate from there!

With the exception of a few episodes, the X-Files is something I do not want to revisit for risk of invalidating my belief the shows I watched as a child were awesome. Also, the mythology in the X-Files was the worst part about that show, and I doubt it has aged well.

The mythology parts are like watching a prototype Lost.
