Fantastic!

chumbucket - 2014-10-09

This was pretty damn cool. And no, i would never try to do this. 17:29 no way, nope, never.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-09

Haha, it's actually heavily edited in the video. It was my colleague's first time going through it and it took him 5 minutes to manage to squeeze through safely.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-10-09

Awesome! extra points for bonus dog at 4.09.
I dont mind the squeezing but the hanging from the bridge bit sorta broke my brain!

misterbuns - 2014-10-09

Neat! What are you going to do with it?

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-09

I have no idea... I guess I just made it first and wasn't sure if it was going to come out decent or not since I'm just an amateur learning how to edit in my free time.

Maybe I'll try to enter into a couple of caving film festivals (such things do exist apparently), but if you anyone has any ideas, they would be welcome.

Just saw this after a few weeks. Thanks!

memedumpster - 2014-10-09

So many fetishes I didn't know I had!

But really, this is fantastic. I bet coming back out into the sun again was like being born. Thank you for doing this!

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-09

This thing was a logistical nightmare and in a sense we really bit off more than we could chew. For narrative purposes I made it look like it's all happening in one day, but it was actually two days of filming for 12 hours straight in the cave each time.

We didn't sleep in the cave, as that would have required even more gear (like hammocks and a drill and more bolts to hang the hammocks from) so each day we made our way out.

Coming out always feels fantastic, even though here the days are short so you don't exactly come out into the sun. Still, after spending many hours in a cave for a while you appreciate everything so much more: the air, the variety of fragrances from the plants, the food, the beer, everything is so much better.

Living la vida Mazes & Monsters! Very enjoyable.

Robin Kestrel - 2014-10-09

Now I'm going to have those "Ted the Caver" nightmares again.

CrimsonHyperSloth - 2014-10-09

That was astounding. I am too afraid of tight spaces to ever do that and I lament that fact.

Do you have a patreon account or something? I'd very much like to send you a token of appreciation for the film. POETV has some really rad people, and I don't mind supporting them.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-09

Thank you very much, truly I feel honored that you would part with some of your hard earned cash to support me. That is a testament to your enjoyment of my work and it makes me immensely happy.

At this time I don't have a patreon account and I don't have another project defined as of yet, but if you send me an email at the address shown at the end of the video I will gladly keep you informed of any future projects and in the event that at some point I decide to seek crowdsourcing I'll let you know that the option is available to you.

Once again, thank you and all the nice comments from other posters as well. It takes a shitload of hours to plan, execute and then edit something like this and really my payback simply comes from knowing that I connected with other people by making the feel "something" through my work. :)

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-10-09

Cool doc. Good music choices too. That looks terrifying but fun.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-09

Most of the music is by Health from the Max Payne 3 soundtrack. Surprisingly enough it is not detected by the Youtube algorithms and so I don't risk my video getting blocked.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-10-10

There's a way to check for youtube recognition? They blocked a video I used a realllllllly early Kraftwerk song in. And yeah, I recognized it as HEALTH because of the song from Hotline Miami, which has a sequel coming out soon I just learned!

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-10

Not in advance, no. I noticed the Max Payne 3 soundtrack was "invisible" because I uploaded a video one day and it didn't detect anything.

So then I thought "ok, game soundtrack from indie electronic band goes through, then probably Hotline Miami tracks also should go through". And it seems I was correct.

I would like to use creative commons music but you just have to wade through hours of shit to find something decent. Maybe on a next one.

Looking forward to Hotline Miami 2.

Jimmy Labatt - 2014-10-12

You are an interesting person, Mr. Nu'man

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-10-17

Okay, first of all, this is great practice for me because I'm trying to learn Spanish more fluently. Second, I recommend subtitles.

Third? It would scare the shit out of me to ever go underground. I could go to the top of a mountain and not get vertigo. Heights have never bothered me. But shit, man, you're a brave soul.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-10-25

Thank you. It scared me too, initially. Hell, I was even scared of the bats at the beginning, but little by little you get used to the various things and then your mind stops that negative internal dialogue and you start to feel comfortable.
