Good heavens what is wrong with them. Salmond is looking to fill his pockets in the confusion and leave our northen brothers ruined, indebted to the BoE for years. Their proud history tarred with maybe 20-25 years of confused isolation, loans and bail-outs. Willie you aint even got a real penis bruv so dont wade into this just to get the 16-18 vote.
Too much uncertainty why risk it?

garcet71283 - 2014-09-15

I for one am enjoying the scramble that is caused by crumbling colonial empires

biohazzrd - 2014-09-15

The empire has been dead for over 80 years mate. Now the world either has to learn to get along (hahaha) or let the inevitable occur. Fuck this species we really dont deserve to go on. WORLDWIDE STAB PARTY!

TeenerTot - 2014-09-16

WORLDSTAB HIPHOP

EvilHomer - 2014-09-15

This is, of course, assuming that the rest of Britain even wants Scotland.

Hey Scotland, maybe it's time for you to move out of mom's attic and get a real job, aye?

Kabbage - 2014-09-15

Daaaannnggg

Xenocide - 2014-09-16

Ach! Why don't ye come down ta Glasgow n' say that, ya Queen-fellatin' scone humpers!

TimidAres - 2014-09-15

God bless the Scots.

StanleyPain - 2014-09-15

I'm not sure the Scots have really thought through the whole economic thing behind independence. I appreciate the sentiment to want to be their own country, fully, but at the same time they're so tied to the Sterling Pound that if they join the EU like they want to, I fear it will be hard times for everybody.
Best of luck either way.

Cena_mark - 2014-09-15

How come the Norther Irish don't have the same option?

Cena_mark - 2014-09-15

I also support an independent Quebec. They too need to throw off the shackles of their English speaking overlords.

GravidWithHate - 2014-09-15

The terrible shackles of official bilingualism and billions of dollars in transfer payments a year.

Cena_mark - 2014-09-15

So in other words, imperialism is okie dokie as long as its convenient for everyone.

Shanghai Tippytap - 2014-09-15

considering the slave states got dragged back into the union by their nuts, i'm sure they count as an imperial territory. I wouldn't mind another push for independence by the south, if only so that it would lock the Democratic vote in the remaining states for like a thousand years.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-16

What I want to know is when Wales is going to get the same option. #annibyniaeth fackahs!

Mr Tippytap - I think the last thing we need is two single-party pseudo-democracies in North America. I fully support the right of people to dissolve the political bands that connect them with another, but in some cases, this is not the best thing to do.

Syd Midnight - 2014-09-18

Norn Arn is infested by the Ulster, a mutant breed of Scots created to oppress the Irish, who celebrate their Britishness by deifying a Dutch king.

The Mothership - 2014-09-15

I lived in Scotland for 8 years before returning home to the USA. Most of the arguments for independence focus on the long-term: linguistic differences, social politics that have always been pretty far to the left of England's, good old fashioned patriotism, the fact that Scotland was independent for a long time before the Stone of Scone got nabbed, etc. The arguments against seem to focus largely on the short-term economic questions over currency and membership in the EU. Independence would bring great uncertainty and potential economic trouble in the short term. There would be grasps for power which could destabilize Scottish politics, which are pretty stable. In the long term though? It would probably be overall positive. Almost all my Scottish friends think not though, they are afraid of the economics and how businesses would be affected. Which is fair enough. Whatever happens, I fear that Scots will end up divided rather than united what with the strong feelings on both sides.

oddeye - 2014-09-15

I lived in Scotland for most of my life and there is no way they can make it alone, even if they should want to..... Which they absolutely shouldn't as being BRITISH is the coolest thing to be, motherfuckers.

The Mothership - 2014-09-15

Is your name Stuart? Cause I think we used to work together at a certain whisky store in Edinburgh.

cognitivedissonance - 2014-09-16

I support your nation's mineral based political system.

Lef - 2014-09-15

Do it!

infinite zest - 2014-09-15

I'm sticking by my rule that I'm not going to submit a single John Oliver clip for a week and it's only monday and I already have the DTs. I think the Simpsons did it better but someone better submit it or I'll buy a grip of Loch Lomond and then you'll be sorry you will. This is really happening isn't it?

The Mothership - 2014-09-15

Yes this is really happening. And I know - as well as you - what good selection there is in Portland, so you go get yourself some good shit if you're gonna go on an election day bender. I will be drinking Ardbeg Uigeadail and preparing to run up a massive telephone bill calling old friends.

Remember there is an 8 hour time difference from PST to GMT

infinite zest - 2014-09-15

Oh I go to election day benders every day. :)

My mom's ancestors grew up pretty much on the border. But I really can't handle the whiskey these days, and just stick to PBR, which has seemed to secede to Portland, quite literally with a music fest next week! Maybe Cascadia's next!

DavidBowiesLuckyTennisBall - 2014-09-16

Hurry up and get to the gag where you rip your shirt off so we can all go home

chumbucket - 2014-09-16

America is a terrible example of how to do independence from Britain.

Xenocide - 2014-09-16

If Scotland votes Yes, the internet will be bombarded with image macros of Shrek wearing a kilt, all captioned "HAPPY SHREKDEPDENDCE DAY!"

Is that what you people want?
