i don't know if it's quite as impressive as the guy who "beat" Simcity 3, but it's still neat

That guy - 2014-09-02

Holy shit does that look not fun.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-09-02

This is fun from a design standpoint.. I used to be an architect and that how I played simcity. Try and design the optimal solution. I stopped playing before reaching this extent however.

That guy - 2014-09-02

It's an extent all right.

If I had a copy of this I'd be tempted to spam it with Godzilla and earthquakes.

Also I'd never be able to build this because I'd be too tempted to spam it with Godzilla and earthquakes.

Also holy shit how many months did he spend building this?!

Mega blocks. Mega highways. Mega City One. Convulsing, choking, breaking under its own weight.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-09-02

The choice of music at least implies some level of self-awareness.

So, there's that.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-09-02

Not as impressive as this guy: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=77656 but still pretty neat.

It would be a lot more frustrating to try to build a perfect city in SimCity 4 than 3000, because it seems like Maxis decreases your level of control over your city a little every game. I remember fondly playing SimCity2000 day after day at a friend's house after school. So pleasant.

blue vein steel - 2014-09-02

for all of simcity 4's faults, it can still be really addicting once you are playing it on its terms.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2014-09-02

Is 4 all cleaned up now. I recall it got a ton of well deserved flak for the shape it shipped in and especially for the online requirement.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-09-03

That's the one that came after 4, which was even more limiting than 4.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-03

SimCity 4 was the last real Sim City, released over a decade ago. After that came SimCity Societies, which was awful, and then SimCity 2013, which was the internet-based mobile app masquerading as a game which you are thinking of. I'm not even sure if SimyCity 2013 is still on the market.

Building something like this would be impossible with SimCity 2013.

infinite zest - 2014-09-03

I didn't know that games still used years to define the edition, with the obvious exception of sports games.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-09-03

Yeah, it's really depressing. Those EA fuckers are walking around all day going "CHA-CHING!" to one another.

blue vein steel - 2014-09-04

I meant the new Sim City, not 4. I'll play it once every few months, and it can be addicting for short periods, but having to manage 3 different cities to do the job one in "4"; it starts to get tedious. The (now much better, after 2 years) wonky path-finding AI doesn't help either. It does look great, though.
