I feel like we're raising our daughters to live in 21st century because we want them to be "strong", and we're raising our sons to live in the 20th century, because we want them to be "strong".

The MRAs, the PUAs, the MGTOWs, the "Nice Guys", the TFLs, and even the goddamn Promise Keepers are all trying to negotiate the gap between "the way it's supposed to be" and the way it is. They want to feel like they've got it all figured out. Some self-reliance is exactly what's called for, but the MGTOWs are obviously faking self-reliance. They can't stop telling themselves how the women are suffering without them. Their need to believe that is pretty sad.

I like ponies, too. However, it's painfully obvious that a lot of men are intimidated by Rarity. She is an assertive, professional mare whose femininity is her strength, rather than a weakness. Clearly, some men are threatened by this.

I see some of these negative feelings directed towards Applejack, too. Frankly, you can tell a lot about a man's maturity by their opinions of these two ponies.

I think it's less the fact that Rarity's femininity is a source of strength, and more the fact that she uses this strength for evil almost as often as she uses it for good. And this is understandable: for example, I am not threatened by Diamond Tiara's wealth and good breeding. But when she uses her socio-economic station to intentionally hurt other ponies - like locking them out of her pool party - that I have a problem with. It's not her gifts, it's how she chooses to use them.

Another thing is that I rather suspect most Rarity haters are betas, like Spike. When she mistreats Spike, they internalize it; it's like a personal attack on them. Her behavior is a trigger, and that's why the Rarity backlash is so extreme. This observation doesn't really contradict your statements, but it does help to place Rarity-hate in it's proper context.

Basically if you really are "going your own way" or not, to any extent, then that is not really remarkable

Well, all I did was link to the video, one of a shitload. As someone suggested, I googled MGTOW, and I discovered a virtual pacific trash vortex of shitty MGTOW videos.

FemRA is a great 'ship.Some people prefer FemFem or MRAMRA slash, but I think FemRA is both the most natural and the most interesting pairing.

I'm a little sad that we managed to demonize MRAs so early on poeTV. I'm willing to bet money we'd have a few open MRAs if there wasn't such a stigma. On the other hand, it does force those people into making absurd statements like drawing an equivalency between MRAs and feminists.

If you are an actual feminist, there a LOT of other things that matter a lot more that you can expend energy on, rather than bringing attention to some low hanging fruit online. This is more about feeling better about yourself, as evidenced by the guy WISHING there were MRAs on here to make fun of, which wouldn't be so bad if people just admitted it.

Well for one thing, he doesn't just mention MGTOW, he mentions MRAs, and that elevates the above opinion way beyond controversial to fucking absurd. Consider YOUTUBE, a website that is so mainstream that most of us don't think of it as a website. Every feminist video is peppered with angry MRA comments. Every antifeminist video is peppered with angry MRA commenats. A whole bunch of videos that have nothing to do with feminism are peppered with Angry MRA comments. A few months ago, a guy wrote an MRA manifesto and went on a killing spree. Remember that?

Most people would have to google MGTOW, but that's to find out what it means. I see it used on youtube all the time. Are they low hanging fruit? Hell yes, they're fucking idiots. What's your point?

It's all part of a big push to redefine "feminism". It's a ham-handed attempt at an ideological purge based on semantics. I haven't seen anything like this since the Republican push against the word "liberal" in the late eighties. For maybe ten years liberals were bullied into calling themselves "progressives". Now they're trying to bully feminists into calling themselves "equalists".
