If that's getting high, I think the first time I got high was when I was about 5 years old.

Robin Kestrel - 2014-05-24

Was this the episode where he had a mild transient ischemic attack and fell down and hit his head and died?

infinite zest - 2014-05-24

I think it was the one where he was the President again. I might get run out of town for saying this, but I kind of don't like Tyson as the host of Cosmos, at least the first episode which is the only one I've seen. He's said it himself: He's not an actor or TV star. He's a professor. That's a great attitude but not when you're the voice and face of a program that will (hopefully) teach the future to not make the same mistakes that we did (new Cosmos is pretty preachy for what I've been told, which I think is a good thing.) I think Freeman would've been a better choice.

No.

chairsforcheap - 2014-05-24

dude i thought i was the only person with that opinion... I love the idea of the show and I love the guy as much as any other nerd, but sometimes it's like "wait... are tim and eric directing this?"

Anaxagoras - 2014-05-24

I agree with you two. I like Tyson a lot, I appreciate & approve of what he's trying to do, but I really don't care for the new Cosmos.

memedumpster - 2014-05-24

What a relief, you guys. It's like the end of RUR in here.

SolRo - 2014-05-24

that's what education needs, another charming actor reading off a script he has no comprehension of. That worked out so well in news media.

Anaxagoras - 2014-05-24

Umm... yes. Yes it did work well in news media for several decades. As long as the script is written by knowledgeable people, then having an actor do the presenting is the best course of action.

The problem came when loons & ignorant dumbasses started writing the scripts.

Marius Stan from Breaking Bad is a scientist. A bad motherfucker of a scientist.

Colin Firth is a scientist, of a less bad motherfucker nature.

Terrence Howard, scientist.

Natale Portman could have also rocked Cosmos.

i wasn't trying to claim an actor should have done cosmos. I just think he often hams it up and his voice isn't exactly ready for tv... he's amazing in interviews but scripted is a little weird feeling. Think about Carl Sagan's fucking cadence... those are big goddamn shoes to fill.

SolRo - 2014-05-24

problem with puppet/smart puppeteer routine is that the puppet cannot participate in any intelligent debates or interviews outside of the show.

Sagan would be nothing if he only did the show. His interaction with other scientists and students outside of the program is what made him a legend.

chairsforcheap - 2014-05-24

totes agree

otes.

Meerkat - 2014-05-24

I was watching some mysteries of the universe show with Tyson and he kept standing up and sitting down and standing up and sitting down and walking back and forth and then at one point he did this thing with his arms like Rob Reiner does at the start of This Is Spinal Tap and I just couldn't watch it anymore.
