Why don't you go brag to your girlfriend about how much healthier you are than me. Probably not a good idea to show her my picture though.

+Maggie Kleppe Correct, the obesity epidemic is mostly just sugar addiction. Proper education that sugar is a toxic substance, along with making it a controlled substance (you should not be able to feed it to children same as alcohol and tobacco) would solve the obesity epidemic.

Is science really exact when it can be argued to extremes on either side! Vegans, vegetarians and raw foodies make the same EXACT claims with their diets. Also, the first taste receptor on your tongue is "sweet"! So something is amiss in what he is saying, if we don't need sweet things then why does our tongue have a "sweet" receptor and why does our brain need glucose (sugar) to provide it fuel? Our bodies can recognize and break down the foods that nature provides: fruits, vegetables and starches. He needs to clarify which type of "carbohydrate" he is talking about. Does he mean junk food (the stuff that comes in boxes and bags) or fruits (the stuff that nature makes). I'm beginning to wonder...if you combine a base food (meat&starches) with each other if it will cause these negative affects. If I restrict meat and only eat starches my health will improve and I WILL lose weight, then on the other hand if I restrict starches and only eat meat my health will improve and I WILL lose weight. Maybe it is the combination of these base foods that is causing the problems. Maybe just maybe, we are eating and combining foods that were never meant to be combined on a consistent basis. The peoples who have typically ate a heavy starch-based diet ate very little meat. While the peoples who ate a heavy meat-based diet ate very little starch. I'm no "scientist" but their arguments always seem to cancel out and nullify one another scientific findings. Fat is not the enemy but nor is sugar (from fruits) we need both to thrive and maintain optimum health. However, eating too much meat IS environmentally irresponsible, cruel to animals and callous on alleged "smart" peoples part. Animals lose their lives to feed us we should not think that we are "entitled" or have a birth right to harm them because we consider them a "lesser" species. They still feel pain and experience fear so we should use and eat meat mindfully and respectfully never forgetting the privilege that they give us by laying down their lives so that we may eat!

I listened to a little bit of this, but I'm always weary of the no carb nonsense. There were times where I made efforts to lose weight and I never went the no carb route. For me it was just cutting out the bad ones. Brown rice, beans, sweet potatoes, nuts, and steel cut oats became my choice carbs and I cut out refined carbs and sugars.
If anything with the diversity of humanity I'll argue against any single diet being the right diet for all peoples.

I did weight cuts with straight calorie reduction and keto carb cycling.

The advantages I found were you feel less hungry (especially at the outset) and it didn't screw as much with my exercise numbers - straight calorie reduction I was noticeably weaker on lifts, carb cycling the numbers stayed about the same.

The disadvantages are it's a lot more expensive to maintain and it's hard to stay on it in the long term, especially when travelling and at the mercy of restaurants and airports. The carb cycling let me pick my weekly cheat day to try and cover those times at least.

I don't think carb reduction has any magic powers, however - it fills you up and prevents you from eating 99% of empty calorie snack food, that's not magic, that's just common sense at work.

I'll just leave this here for anybody who wants an even more comprehensive look at this information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs

There's 3d graphics! Not sure if this was ever posted to poetv, and I'm not going to bother searching down the URL.
