I could swear this is a dupe of a video I submitted years ago but I don't care. It made me smile on a day when I really need to smile. POEtv is like the best kind of hug. A hug where you might get kneed in the balls but not sure. Also I think I used "bon jovi" as a tag and not "billy idol"

TeenerTot - 2014-05-09

Aw. Sorry for the dupe-age.

Old_Zircon - 2014-05-09

I knew this was a dupe because I tried to submit it last month.

infinite zest - 2014-05-09

Hehe.. It's in the hopper but I think my "how to shut down a ho proper dragon ball z style" might be getting the most dupe votes ever. But I searched for everything except for "Goku" and when I submitted it, it was a different link to the same video. Oh well.

I've said it before but I think it'd be cool if a comment pushed an old video back to the front page, kind of like how it works on 4chan. If I'm going around hitting "random" and see a cool video that was submitted a comment or favorite it, It's like saying "wow that was cool" to other comments submitted several years ago.

I'm amazed this wasn't up here. I remember seeing it when I was little and again on the internet before there was youtube. What a great jam.

Oh it's here:

haha, even the description says what I said.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2014-05-09

The muppet is named "Billy Idle."

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-09

That's why he's in bed all the time!

I didn't know at the time that "Rebel L" was a parody of a Billy Idol song. I mean, I was roughly 10 years old when this first aired and was vaguely aware of Billy Idol, but I swear the only Billy Idol song that I ever remember getting played on CBC VIDEO HITS was the obscene "Flesh for Fantasy". (I like "Rebel Yell", I like "White Wedding", and I even like "Cradle of Love", but, without getting too SJW, "Flesh for Fantasy" is just over-the-top degrading & I don't know why it got so much airtime on a CBC show aimed at teens of all places.)

Heh me too. My parents would get me those Sesame Street records when I was a kid and listen to Tom Waits themselves. I didn't know the difference between Cookie Monster and Tom Waits. I also didn't know that Weird Al was parodying popular songs so I'd hear "Mony Mony" on the radio and assume it was a cover of "Alimony."

sasazuka - 2014-05-09

I also think when "Rebel Yell" was new, I was just more interested in Michael Jackson plus, erm, Culture Club and wasn't really paying much attention to most other music. It was that short period of time between when "Beat It" hit it big and before Much Music started on television in Canada, so I didn't quite get the full picture of what music was popular beyond what was shown on the aforementioned VIDEO HITS and the top 5 on KIDSBEAT.
