Everyone is missing the point. What made the gun in the movie cool was the SOUND EFFECT.

IIRC the movie version was a Thompson submachinegun underneath all the plastic furniture. I'd rather have that because .45 > 9mm

The whole "guns dry humping each other" thing works great in fantasy ( calling Dr. Freud! ) but really, look how awkward the thing handles in real life. It's either a boat anchor sized shotgun or a strangely runty rifle.
