I actually really enjoyed this movie. As far as B movies go, it's a lot of fun and pretty original.

How is it compared to the original? I thought that had a great premise but was disappointed where they went with it, or didn't.

I think it's better than the original, for whatever that's worth. It's decent pulp sci-fi on an ultra-low budget.

For what it is worth: I remember the first one very well; the caustic social commentary fits well with the louche horror tropes ( think Dawn of the Dead where all the zombies are wandering around the mall shopping ). Very charming movie, and the end had me chuckling for days afterwards.

The second one, I have seen, but do not remember. At all. Nothing in this trailer rang a bell. I could dig the tape out and watch it again, but why? What about the second one made it memorable for you fans?

There was a third one? Jesus, I don't know...

a third one?

...was it named Cube Cubed?

Innocent Bystander - 2014-04-11

The first movie was a nice bit of paranoid claustrophobia.

The second one was awful.

And anything after that probably sucked worse than getting shot in the knee, but I wouldn't know since I haven't seen any of them.

I don't know what all these people are so worried about. Just figure out which of you is really Obi-Wan Kenobi and follow his lead.

Binro the Heretic - 2014-04-11

Are these worth watching? The trailers made them look like typical pointless "cast gets picked off one-by-one in bloody fashion" spatter flicks.

Of course, so did the trailer for "The Cabin in the Woods" and I ended up liking that one.

I've seen the first and third ones, and they are very good. Yes, like most horror films, people get killed off one by one, but there's a lot of psychology, and a real atmosphere to these movies that you don't find in spatter films. I've seen a lot of horror films, and these are some of the best - bleak, relentless, almost claustrophobic, clever without being pretentious, and gory without being over-reliant on blood. It's low budget, high concept psychological horror from some underdog filmmakers in Canada, so yeah, I'd definitely recommend it!

Plus, there was like this one dude who got shot in the face with acid, and his whole body melted off like BLLLAAARRRRR! Right out his pants like he was poopin' or somethin'! It was wicked sick!

Cube Zero is awesome and you should watch it before someone posts the ending here.

I liked the part where the man is chopped up into tiny cubes.

Seriously though, I was doing mushrooms and someone put the original Cube on. Besides that opening scene, there's very little visual shock- it's just beautiful to watch and the horror is mostly psychological. It's up there with Primer as a movie that did amazing things with a (relatively) small budget. Cube's was 350k and Primer's was 7k (grossing about 500k) but Cube spawned a franchise, and all Primer did was allow for Upstream Color to happen, which suuuucked. That's pretty cool for Cube and its creators.

I haven't seen the sequels because I always thought they'd just go with the survival horror thing, kind of like how Pitch Black turned itself into this insanely stupid sci-fi Chronicles of Riddick bullshit, or Starship Troopers sequels, which missed the point of the original completely. But I'll trust poeTV's collective brain on this one; if the other ones are good I'll watch them right away.

fucking maths! i knew it!

I liked the time-play in this movie thie most. Especially since its implied that one of the characters survives for 20 years by eating another character over and over
