Yo Zircon I'm not dissing any of this magnificent gear but wouldnt you have much more flexibility, choices and ability to do more at the same time by using a modern DAW like ableton with MAX or logic + some cool midi controllers ?
Or, in other words, explain to me why you would pay for this kind of gear? (It is very expensive I take it)

Additional. I got into Reason 1 a good few years ago now. Which was a music making program that emulated these sort of synths (all the way down to being able to turn them around and connect patch leads) I eventually moved to ableton cus I found the limited amount of ways you could connect things up frustrating. Or, to achieve what you wanted you had to spend ages arranging an arcane labyrinth of cables and devices. I much prefer in ableton where everything is just data and you can pretty much route anything into anything else.

This things going to cost maybe #300 to builtops. I'm less than in the hoel for it already. I've got those options available but this looks rad, especially since I can commit the heresy of running it backward (using a CV o midi I already have) and playing midi synths with it/recroding patterns from it as MIDI data. Which could be a whole other thing.

So how's the latest version of Ableton? I went the opposite way; I started with Ableton many, many years ago, but I migrated over to Reason (currently using 5.0) I kind of like the GUI... it can get a bit confusing at times, but the auto-routing and Combinators (which IIRC were added well after 1.0) make it fairly simple to work with now.

Because a beep in hand, is worth two boops in the bush.

Incidentally, "everything is just data and you can pretty much route anything into anything else" is a lot closer to modular synths than Reason has ever been.

These beeps and boops presented by the 70's.
