Could just be the 'stash, bro....

infinite zest - 2013-12-12

Yeah seriously. There was this one kid in Portland who got a nickname and everything ("hipster hitler") just for having that style of mustache and refusing to shave it off. Other than that, he skateboarded, rode his fixie, things that people do.

But Bruno Ganz PLAYED FUCKING HITLER IN A MOVIE ABOUT HITLER! That's like Robert Downey Jr. showing up in an interview defending his role in Tropic Thudnder in the same blackface. Furthermore, he is a really good actor and can probably be other things besides "Hitler". It's not like Christopher Waltz is known as the Nazi anymore than he is the Slave-owner killer..

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-12-12

Heil Hipler!

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-12-12

He was incredible in that movie. It's a really hard thing to play such a well-known and universally hated character and make him multi-dimensional. So, I agree that it's a little disappointing that a lot of people haven't seen Downfall (on Netflix btw) and yet HAVE seen all the memes of that one incredible bunker scene. They're missing out on some great acting.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-12-12

Agreed. I've actually been to Germany and visited the room where the Holocaust was drafted. I saw the playground built atop the Fuhrerbunker. I went into the crematorium of Sachsenhausen and saw real Holocaust blood on the floor. Gantz's performance is brilliant on so many levels because it reminds us that Hitler was not a mere caricature, but a deeply terrifying, disturbed individual who swept up half the planet in his illness.

But if I ever met him in person, I would demand he say MIT SHTALIN to me.

BorrowedSolution - 2013-12-12

Multi-Dimensional Hitler???

You mean he was a shape-shifting reptilian?

I'm disappointed in you.

EvilHomer - 2013-12-12

I don't know about the rest of you, but the only reason I saw Downfall was on account of the memes. It's true that watching the memes and then not watching Downfall is a tragedy, but you can't really blame the memes for that.

Personally, I liked Goebbels and his wife the best! I wish they'd make memes out of the cyanide scene: "Magda Goebbels kills her kids because she doesn't want them to live in a world with Xbox One/ Obamacare/ Alicorn Twilight" etc etc

EvilHomer - 2013-12-12

Also, have you guys ever read Albert Speer's memoirs? I don't know how spot-on accurate they are, but the way he paints Hitler is the way I like to remember him; as a big, fat, totally metro, emo-fratboy-manchild. Hess was an amiable doofus, and Himmler was a weedy nerd with unresolved impotence issues.

I swear to Christ, if the Nazi Inner Circle were living today, they'd all be Wiccan furries and asthmatic internet forum moderators.

memedumpster - 2013-12-12

Damn. The memes actually made me avoid the movie at all costs, but now I want to see it.

EvilHomer - 2013-12-12

It's really good, and it should be on either Netflix or TPB, according to your preference.

The part where Hitler comes charging out of the obliterated bunker and goes ninja all over mecha-Stalin's ass is amazing, and the Bollywood dance routine when he marries Eva Braun is surprisingly catchy.

Anaxagoras - 2013-12-12

Give me a break. The dance number was completely derivative.

Potrod - 2013-12-12

"On a serious note, I don't know what's up with your homeboy back there."

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-12-12

--Adolf Hitler.

Adham Nu'man - 2013-12-12

Everyone here realizes this is another fake-sub thing right?

Potrod - 2013-12-12

Yes, though it weirdly only has like 2 lines that tipped me off (see above).

Adham Nu'man - 2013-12-12

Yeah it starts out plausible enough but near the end, come on.
