Caminante Nocturno - 2013-09-01
I visited the Louvre this past July, and while I was there, I saw a person wearing an anime shirt.
So, this video is incorrect.
One star.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-09-01 I was actually going with ad nauseam at first until I double checked the definition of ad hominem. To be honest, ad hominem is a lot more dynamic since ad nauseam/infinitum do not require an engagement.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-09-01 That's actually really hard to say MrBuddy. I don't like the thought of art being meaningless, despite others abusing the word to defend themselves, but I do believe there is a definition.
It's just extremely hard to define with out the cluelessly self-serving shit stains being enabled and flaring up.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-09-01 Really starting to resent putting the word autism in there. I just put it in there since I remember being a pretty huge emotionally awkward numbskull, but I don't like putting down the Doozers.

Old_Zircon - 2013-09-01 The most important thing in art is The Frame. For painting: literally; for other arts: figuratively -- because, without this humble appliance, you can't know where The Art stops and The Real World begins. You have to put a 'box' around it because otherwise, what is that shit on the wall?
If John Cage, for instance, says, "I'm putting a contact microphone on my throat, and I'm going to drink carrot juice, and that's my composition," then his gurgling qualifies as his composition because he put a frame around it and said so. "Take it or leave it, I now will this to be music." After that it's a matter of taste. Without the frame-as-announced, it's a guy swallowing carrot juice.

gravelstudios - 2013-09-02 @OldZircon: In one of my music history classes, we watched a documentary on John Cage in which he talked about music made by mushrooms. After all (in his reasoning), mushrooms drop spores, and when those spores hit something, they make vibrations, and even if those vibrations are too faint to hear, isn't it still music? He was a pretty interesting guy, although I think a lot of what he did could better be described as performance art than music.

It's always interesting to hear a cat speak out about these sorts of things.

MrBuddy. I'm gonna have to take a bit to digest that, but holy shit thanks for the introducing me to Marshall McLuhan.

Anime is art the same way porn and Jack Chick are.
|
Shoebox Joe - 2013-09-01 I wouldn't be THAT harsh. It's over glorified by wads, wieners and dorks, but it has it's moments. Just a lot more farther from finding it thanks to capitalism, culture differences and people with no sense of moderation or neutrality.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-09-01
Hey Waugh. I wouldn't mind your two cents on art. I think you're necessary to help keep PoETV cynical, but I can't help but feel I'm giving ammo to a mindless, sociopathic piece of shit with no real intent other than making people feel uncomfortable.

Eh, roughly the same level as superhero comics. That is, the overwhelming majority of it is useless garbage, but once in a great while there's something that's actually halfway decent.

RocketBlender - 2013-09-01
5 for the comments alone. Waugh is getting better at this.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-09-01
Still a better candidate for art than video games

Kid Fenris - 2013-09-02
Sure, why not? I once saw this anime cartoon where a little unicorn fought some evil puppet overlord, and it was OK.

I give up. What the hell is is saying at the end? Why specifically does this person think that "animes" are not art?
