So, anyone else finding it impossible to force themselves to like Random Access Memories?

augias - 2013-08-01

What's to like. It's a failed attempt at making the classic disco sounds that Daft Punk used to succesfully sample. It is a failure of the will!

StanleyPain - 2013-08-01

It's a phenomenally awful album. I knew that one day DP's weird "pseudo-ironic" approach to re-appropriating old disco/funk stuff would collapse in on itself pretty spectacularly, but when it finally hit it was depressing that the album I had been listening to at work on repeat was actually not a new Bruno Mars album or something, it was actually Daft Punk.
Their early stuff is still fun.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-08-01

I think even if you don't like the songs or even the style, you have to at least admit that it has really good production. It isn't something slapped together in a weekend using a Mac like so much music is these days.

chairsforcheap - 2013-08-01

it's a pretty great album

augias - 2013-08-01

I'd rather listen to a badly engineered album with good and exciting ideas. Good production is no saving grace, not at daft punks level of notoriety; its expected.

memedumpster - 2013-08-01

I am not a Daft Punk fan, but is this the album poe was thrilled about a few months ago? It sounds like decent easy listening (except the cat noises, my god).

I saw this on Wikipedia.
On 19 January 2012, Daft Punk ranked No. 2 on Mixmag's Greatest Dance Acts of All Time, with The Prodigy at No. 1 by just a few points.[47]

I have never read Mixmag and I don't own any Daft Punk, but I can tell from this alone that they absolutely suck as music critics.

I respect the album quite a bit, as it is a huge departure from the Daft Punk norm and obviously well done. However, aside from Get Lucky, which I don't mind, the rest is just not the sort of thing I have any interest in listening to.

kingarthur - 2013-08-01

I'm a fan, granted, but I really enjoyed it. Much more so than the awful Tron soundtrack, but not as much as Discovery.

Kabbage - 2013-08-01

I really like about half of it, and really don't care for the other half. Not their best, but... better than Human After All.

Kabbage - 2013-08-01

It's nowhere near as good as I wish it was, I guess is the bottom line, but it's not bad.

Meerkat - 2013-08-01

It has Paul Williams on it so fuck you up the nose with a tuba.

Deplorable - 2013-08-01

I remember listening to the whole album during a "upgrading windows from the first to current iteration", and I liked it. Of course, I found the windows video pretty entertaining too. Also, I didn't like the lyrics to this song and think it's better with the cat sounds, so basically fuck my opinion.

Deplorable - 2013-08-02

I'm glad I'll have this stuck in my head now and again, like it is now.

fedex - 2013-08-01

I like this track a lot

mouser - 2013-08-02

This cat version is less painful than to listen to the original lyrics.

urbanelf - 2013-08-02

Like the legend of the Felix?

PANDAR - 2013-08-02

The album could have been better thats for sure, but I love that Paul Williams, Giorgio Morodor, and Nile Rodgers are a part of it. Respect to DF for including these fellas. Cat Lucky is damn funny, thats no doubt.
