Nice. love this story. I'm expecting he'll make some changes but I'll stay open-minded about it.

I had no idea Richard was doing this. No wonder he's been so quiet on social media lately and making the film festival rounds.

This guy's work is so over the top and huge I can't see how this will work.

Already we are seeing way too much of the phenomena to resemble how lovecraft told this story / why it was compelling. That he feels the need to show the meteor at all tells me everything. The next telling choice is no characterization in the trailer in place of familiar spooky sounding music that doesnt relate to the themes working in the story at all (monastic chanting? This takes place in the bible belt. Catholicism doesnt occur to this world at all)

Wouldn't a smaller, more character based realist approach be more chilling? To see up close the way this Thing changes the humanity of the beings it encounters?

The color out of space could easily be adapted into a short that would start out slice-of-life turn of the century hardships and become a wonderful genre thing.

It bothers me when directors approach lovecraft as a paint by number and just expect the work to be as effective as the source material.

Huge CGI shots, familiar hollywood stings, take away stanely's outlandish mis en scene and you're going to have a boring movie.

Uh, this is fake, right? The opening CG shots are from Deep Rising, and I distinctly saw stolen images from a couple horror movies, including the 1983 The Thing.

I just don't like the concept very much. Maybe I'm too much of a purist.
