Now do "Kiss Me, Kate," in Klingon.

dementomstie - 2013-07-04

I'm surprised that they(the Klingon Language Institute) translated 'Much Ado About Nothing' into Klingon, but not 'Taming of the Shrew'. While both make sense from a Klingon Romance point of view 'Taming of The Shrew' involves actual fighting.

Besides, while "I Hate Men" would be easy to translate into that most noble of languages, I don't think "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" would translate very cleanly.

The KLI didn't actually translate those books, a single individual did. He picked those books because those were the ones he wanted to translate. I believe that the translator was more of a language fan than a Star Trek fan and so didn't try to make the stories more "Klingon".

I'm surprised at how well the Klingon matches the rhythm and syllabic structure of the original.

We did that on purpose so it could be sung without having to learn new timing.
