It's like a scene from the Truman Show.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2013-03-14

People paid full retail for this.

Mancakes - 2013-03-14

Many, many, people likely (along with Day One DLC™). And despite the awful launch and lightyears of regression from previous titles, people will go right back and buy day one patched, bug riddled, DRM saddled games like cattle the next time something shiny floats in front of their glazed eyes.

SolRo - 2013-03-14

some of them even managed to stay connected long enough to find out how shit the game is.

Raggamuffin - 2013-03-14

Video as metaphor for Sim City purchasers.

Hooker - 2013-03-14

Poor truck. Went down the road to nowhere that exists for no reason and now he's trapped behind the left behind.

fedex - 2013-03-14

cant you make truck run over them somehow?

boner - 2013-03-14

Prickly Pete - 2013-03-14

Would you like to making truck?

Father Avalanche - 2013-03-14

truck am glad to be for running over them

That guy - 2013-03-14

"Each sim is an individual, following its motives to different places."

Sanest Man Alive - 2013-03-14

Does that mean they're trying to make their own Dwarf Fortress? Would I have to periodically purge my city of all cats, or rig up an apocalyptic trap to explode my power plant in case the trolleys went berserk?

...Actually, that would almost be cool. Too bad this is just a heap of hamfisted dumbassery.

kingofthenothing - 2013-03-14

Ouch, man. Just wow. This is almost worse than the bugs in Bethesda games.

American Standard - 2013-03-14

Reminder: This game costs eighty bucks fully loaded.

Eighty bucks.

Meanwhile, "Don't Starve" is fifteen bucks on Steam and its devoured 47 hours of my life. I regret nothing.

RocketBlender - 2013-03-14

How is that? I've been so tempted by it. Looks right up my alley.

Steam has been fucking hilarious this past couple of weeks, obviously preying on EA's failures as much as they can without actually saying they're offering better sim city alternatives. Tropico 3 and 4 have been on sale, 4 still is at , and their splash page is currently an Ubisoft sale, with Anno 2070 (fun, fun game) being prominently featured.

Paracelsus - 2013-03-14

Eighty damn dollars?

American Standard - 2013-03-14

"Don't Starve" is the best indie game I've ever played. It'll kick your ass, but it a great, fun way.

And yep, eighty goddamn dollars. base game, european city skins, and superhero/super villain add-on.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-03-14

I read the areas you can have for your city are a LOT smaller than in previous games, and with the online component, you can't save your game, let Godzilla stomp it, then reload back to before you set him loose.

I also saw that someone has made a mod that disables the need for an internet connection, so maybe the users will fix EA's fucking stupid decisions.

Koda Maja - 2013-03-14

Reminds me of this: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=84083

StanleyPain - 2013-03-14

Gee, I sure hope no one pirates this game.

StanleyPain - 2013-03-14

Also, submitter name/video synergy.

Mancakes - 2013-03-14

It just came out that the always-online requirement was pure bullshit and the borders were also artificially reduced.

So yar har fiddle-dee-fuckin' dee.

RocketBlender - 2013-03-14

Were borders artificially reduced so they can sell expanded borders later on? Serious question, that seems like the kind of shit EA and Activision likes to pull.

Wonko the Sane - 2013-03-14

EA has said they will release DLC that expands the borders

RocketBlender - 2013-03-14

Can't say I didn't see that shit coming.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-03-14

Meanwhile, I still play Sim City 2000 on occasion.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-03-17

Hell yes.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-03-14

I hope this game goes down as one of the worst, ever.

Not that it will cost EA or anything, but it would make a nice symbolic victory.

chumbucket - 2013-03-14

Koyaanisqatsi in digital form

Herr Matthias - 2013-03-14

Having had fond memories of SimCity as a youth, as I'm sure many on here do, I was kind of on the fence about the new release.

Then I remembered it was by EA.

Then I remembered Spore.

And then I read this post on Slashdot: http://games.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=3547181&cid=43172917

That changed my mind.

Kumquatxop - 2013-03-16

Oh, that link is FANTASTIC. What a tremendous pile of shit.

Welp, I just bought Anno 2070!

Kumquatxop - 2013-03-17

Also oh my god:

erratic - 2013-03-14

"Do you think we can merge with this data stream, Bit?"

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-03-15

Never cared about Sim City, but as a gamer who plays on both PC and console, it's always fun to see the PC "Master Race" get their panties in a bunch when DRM shit exclusive to their beloved platform of choice backfires. So thanks for the laughs EA! Rot in hell!

I'm not challenging the fact that a well built PC is a superior gaming platform to any console that has or will ever be made (it is, and always will be) but I just wish the PC fanboys (yes, that's what they are) who think they're somehow less annoying than any other fanboy would shut the fuck up.

oddeye - 2014-03-14

Why do people fall for this DLC shit every fucking time? Moderately priced expansion packs that come out a year or two later is fine and dandy but making you pay to unlock something that is already in the damn game from DAY ONE (some from even earlier than that thanks to early-access bullshit) is just a pure cold-hearted money grab, plain and fucking simple.

And yet people fall for it. Every.Fucking.Time. What the everliving FUCK guys?

pastorofmuppets - 2016-09-24

Decent simulation of a new restaurant opening in a big city. Not sure why people are complaining.
