I remember watching this movie for the first time and having to replay this scene over and over again, wondering if I'd somehow broken into a fever dream and that I'd see Alex Jones ranting and being abducted.
Sadly, this did not happen.
I'm really enjoying Alex Jones Is Crazy Week.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-09 I had to see Waking Life in the theater for a class and it was like The Matrix 2 except without the action and camp that made Matrix 2 bearable.
A Scanner Darkly is my favorite Philip K Dick book, which puts this movie squarely in the "never going to see it" bin for me, along with stuff like Stuart Little and Where the Wild Things Are and pretty much anything based on a Roald Dahl story (although I saw a couple of those back in the 90s before I'd completely lost confidence in screen adaptations).

I only learned who Alex Jones was two weeks ago, courtesy of this site, actually.
I thought the dude in the film was just an actor playing the role of a stereotypical paranoid moonbat. It's actually kind of disturbing to find out the truth.
I saw this movie and I really liked it. All the actors are great. They even squeezed good performances out of Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves. Of course, Canoe really fit that role, so it wasn't so much "acting" as it was just "being." Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson sort of steal the show. I would almost have rather watched ninety minutes of them and their stoner dipshit antics.
I've never seen "Waking Life". How does it stack up?

I'd rather see this movie without the clumsy rotoscoping and shitty posterized colors on top. The only part of the movie that really needed the "animation," such as it is, was the scramble suit, and I don't think that was really that important to the plot (and could have been done with more traditional effects anyway, hell, just Gaussian blur the shit out of the actor and it'd probably have the same effect that the book was trying to convey).
