Stars for the evil people. Aside from their cultural significance, which is indeed important, the world would be a better place without these people in it. Also, agree with Old Z that the film is exploitative, complete with shock-and-awe loud shitty metal music ruining at least half of the documentary.

The feral Americans of the Appalachian mountains are interesting because they demonstrate what white people turn into after a few generations of devolving in the wilderness apart from civilization. It's not what a lot of people think.

I've lived in WV since I was 10. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with the state. Anyway, I tried watching this a while back on Netflix and just couldn't finish it. It's just too close.

I grew up near here. I know these people are horrible, but understand this is one part of the country where the white people have been screwed over almost as much as minorities everywhere else. There's been generation upon generation of economic warfare, and real warfare when that failed (read about the whiskey rebellion and WV mine wars, off the top of my head). They didn't end up like this by accident.

This. The video got yanked before I had a chance to see, but I can guess: uneducated white people living in rural America have few opportunities and make choices that we can't imagine making.

Between this and the Appalachian Kentucky documentary from the other year, I'm beginning to think the Appalachians themselves are our enemy. They leave people isolated and without access to education, job opportunities, or resources.
