One of the best films of the decade.

Refn should do Blood Meridian.

jreid - 2013-01-06

Yes. And yes.

TheOtherCapnS - 2013-01-06

Great film.

No one should do Blood Meridian. It's unfilmable and uncastable.

misterbuns - 2013-01-06

That kind of thinking is safe, but false.

Blood Meridian would be done very well by Terrence Malick, I think, but it is philosophically contrary to the themes Malick likes to explore.

Have you seen Valhalla, by Refn? It is very close to being Blood Meridian in a lot of ways.

Uncastable? Why? Blood Meridian is not a character piece. The biggest shoes to fill would be The Judge, but so what? Marlon Brando would have been perfect for The Judge who can be approached as a variation on Colonel Kurtz.

It would be a challenge, but not impossible.

misterbuns - 2013-01-06

er valhalla rising*

Koda Maja - 2013-01-06

Daniel Day Lewis as The Judge.

kingarthur - 2013-01-06

Fuck Nolan for making this man act under that silly mask with that stupid voice. He deserves better, especially after this movie.

Hooker - 2013-01-06

It's Bane. He has a mask. Tom Hardy could have turned the role down.

GQ - 2013-01-06

Also, the voice was all Hardy's idea

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2013-01-06

Fuck that guy for giving this talented actor boatloads of money + exposure + letting him play the role how he wanted

Cena_mark - 2013-01-06

So being in one of the greatest film trilogies is a bad thing? Do you live in bizarro world QueenAnne?

Xenocide - 2013-01-06

Christopher Nolan hates Tom Hardy so much, he put him in a great movie that made a billion dollars. Now Tom Hardy can buy an action figure of Tom Hardy. Actually, he can buy like two million action figures of Tom Hardy thanks to his royalties from Dark Knight. Wow, Nolan's an asshole.

misterbuns - 2013-01-06

It was pretty silly.

StanleyPain - 2013-01-06

Tom Hardy wanted to be in the film and his portrayal of Bane was his idea, same as Heath Ledger basically "made up" the Joker. The voice was Hardy's idea. Apart from the costume, the characterization of Bane was basically invented by Hardy, who was not familiar with the comics (thankfully).

CJH - 2013-01-06

ANYONE WHO DENIGRATES THE BANE VOICE IS A FOOL*

(*the comment should be read in the bane voice)

fatatty - 2013-01-06

Bane's voice was silly and I still blame Nolan for not noticing it and putting a stop to it. Of course he also let Bale do his retarded Cookie Monster Batman voice, so clearly Nolan doesn't know a silly voice when he hears one.

And considering the success and vehement defense of Batman: Battle of the Silly Voices, most people don't know a silly voice when they hear one.

I do give Hardy credit for acting the whole movie under a mask though. Few actors are willing to cover their pretty Hollywood visage for an entire movie, which is why Spider-man is constantly taking his mask off and why Deadpool was just Ryan Reynolds in a red tank top.

Gmork - 2013-01-06

Depressing.

Adham Nu'man - 2013-01-06

Just watch the "huge cyst extraction" clip in the related videos at the end, that will cheer you right up.

misterbuns - 2013-01-06

Hey look. It might have been very cold in that cell. It probably was. Stop judging okay?

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-10

I love absolutely everything about this movie. The scene to follow this is one of the greatest things filmed.
