First thing I thought of when I watched that "You're Not A Nerd" video.

Well, second thing, after the "but Starbuck is in Big Bang Theory!" stuff. Third, if you count how mad I got when he mentioned Frasier as an example of "acceptable" nerdsploitation (As any True, Non-Poseur nerd will tell you, Frasier was to the 90s what RotNs was to the 80s, and BBT is to the Nows)

Yeah, first I thought of the comic and then I thought of this and then I thought about how the guy who made that video is actually one of the fake nerds Harvey is talking about in this.

The only truly accurate depictions of nerds I've seen on TV (that I can think of off the top of my head) are Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys and Bill from Freaks and Geeks.

I couldn't find the clip from after Harvey sees the movie and decides its bullshit because real-life nerds will never win in the end. But Toby and Joyce still like it.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-11-15

I think you're forgetting the gay bear nerds from the Sarah Silverman Program.

I traveled 136 miles round trip to see Bubba Ho-Tep.

But, that's only because I saw it twice.

This movie is vastly underrated.

Dr. Venture is in this as Robert Crumb. Great movie.

Quick question for anyone who's read the comics: there was this one story written and drawn by an autistic fan, anybody remember what issue that was from? The guy was in a restaurant, McDonalds or something. Damn near moved me to tears.

Google seems to think that American Splendor + autism = you wanna know about Toby Radloff on MTV dontcha?, so any help would be appreciated.

TheOtherCapnS - 2012-11-15

The guy's name is Colin Warneford, and it was from issue 25.

EvilHomer - 2012-11-15

Oh, thank you so much!!!

Yes. Yes, I will marry you.

109, man, that one in particular. I don't know what it is exactly- the frentic thought patterns and pressure to perform combined with the utter bleakness of the subject, probably- but that page is one of my favorite comic moments ever.

First time I saw it, I was still working at my old job. Spent two hours sketching a giant sized version of the damn thing- two hours of company time, no less- and hung it on the wall next to my desk. My boss got pissed, but it was well worth it, because whenever I felt isolated or overwhelmed or miserable, I could just look over at that panel and feel... well, more isolated, overwhelmed, and miserable.

Dude's like ChrisChan from the "Good" Universe. Hope he's still going.

Okay, meet you in Washington.

I'll bring the ganj.
