i think i just regained my virginity, you guys

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-11-09

I heard if you put a Hostess fruit pie in the front of your pants overnight, you legally get your virginity back.

Old_Zircon - 2012-11-09

Hostess went out of business a year or two ago, so it's a good thing they've got this now.

chumbucket - 2012-11-08

Dear Guild Wars 2 Players, please buy this and never see the light of day ever ever again.

Zoot42 - 2012-11-08

This game is gonna be garbage. They are using SWTOR's shitty hero engine and WoW-style gameplay with factions and classes and specializations just like every other MMO ever.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-11-08

When White Wolf folded last year, a chunk of the writers shuffled over to Bethesda. Be prepared for the angst.

Nope, I won't be playing this. I think it would be more fun to just play some Daggerfall or Arena.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-11-09

Hooray, another MMORPG. 5 stars for when it tanks like SWTOR

Hooker - 2012-11-09

I find it hilarious that The Old Republic tanked. People were _so sure_ that it was going to be the game to finally kill WoW.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-11-09

To kill WoW, they need to have a game that will allow you to skip the preliminary bullshit and *start* at Level 90 or whatever. At this point, so much time has been spent on the average Level 90 that having to start over at the beginning of anything, no matter how great the setting is or how exciting the gameplay dynamics might be, is a major drag.

memedumpster - 2012-11-09

The Old Republic isn't (wasn't) free to play. That's a death sentence for an MMORPG in the world of microtransactions.

EvilHomer - 2012-11-09

Is Old Republic out yet?

memedumpster - 2012-11-09

Wow, that would make a great set of FPS arenas!

StanleyPain - 2012-11-09

This doesn't really seem interesting to me. Elder Scrolls is utterly defined by the fact that it is a player vs. environment setting. That is what MAKES the world. I mean, few games can even approach what Oblivion and Skyrim have achieved, even with their flaws.
No one ever asked for a multiplayer ES game that was just another MMO.
At minimum, I think it would be interesting to see a patch/MOD for Skyrim or a future ES game that used an online component similar to Fable or Dark Souls, where other players "inhabit" the world, but you don't really interact with them. They can leave messages, or items in global chests, or you'll know when they've accomplished something (the bell-ringing in Dark Souls is easily one of most amazing things to experience in a multiplayer sense, despite being so retardedly simple) but they do not directly come inside your game, so to speak.
Turning Tamriel into an expansion for WoW just seems so boring and lifeless.

EvilHomer - 2012-11-09

No, no, no, please, this is a joke, right? In very bad taste, but a joke all the same?

As a highly opinionated TES nerd with a couple dozen created mods and a decade of online fandom street creds under his belt, I have to say that, were this true, it'd be the worst kick in the balls since they took Acrobatics out of Skyrim. "Elder Scrolls MMO" has been a favorite boogieman for Tamriel's oldfag elite; fan generated rumors crop up every couple months, mostly created by Morrowind fans to troll other Morrowind fans, and provoke angry outcries about how the devs want to ruin the series by turning it into a casual gamer/ World of Warcraft/ XBox console kiddie craphole. And the trolling works; it really is a scary thought, as, on the whole, TES nerds look down on WoW players (think of it like poe and 4chan) and, as Stanley mentions above, it violates the fundamental dynamic that makes TES so fun for it's fanbase- the fact that it's you vs the entire world, a lone god lost in a vast wilderness, free to fight and explore (and mod!) to your little heart's content. Now imagine spending fifty hours stuck in a specified noPVP area because you aren't level 70 yet, lining up behind a pack of unwashed teamspeaking nerds to take turns farming a troll spawn.

I know, I know, nerd rage haha. But I swear to Sithis, this is a tragedy.

EvilHomer - 2012-11-09

Coming up next: cover based combat systems! Call of Duty style health regeneration! Easy, eight slot inventory system! Facebook integration, to quickly and easily publish your latest "Achievments"! And Quick Time Events, Quick Time Events, lots n' lots of Quick Time Events!

Old_Zircon - 2012-11-09

Am I the only one who misread "highly opinionated NES tard" in that first post?

Old_Zircon - 2012-11-09

By the way, ayour analogy above implies that Poe doesn't look down on SA anymore, is that true? I've always seen it as Poe sees SA as SA sees 4chan (I'm not sure how 4chan sees Reddit but I'd venture to guess Reddit is 4chan's 4chan; that's certainly how I see it).

Pillager - 2012-11-09

This will be a good time sink until Fallout 4 comes out.

Triggerbaby - 2012-11-09

Ha ha ha that looks terrible!

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-11-12

Will this support my anime mods?

Tasso - 2012-12-26

What they're missing here is the same thing most newb MMO devs miss- what happens when the exploration and everything is DONE? How does the world hold peoples' interest once it's a jam-packed thronging warzone of high-level adventurers?

People are going to play this for the main story and then stop, just like they do for every mmo that isn't WoW.
