US Space Program: spawned by some crazy motherfuckers.

Stars for the film that inspired me to enter the aeronautics field.

Back when rednecks did things other than vote Republican and hate America.

5 stars for "hanging your ass over the jagged edge"

And today Baumgartner did it without a mothafuckin' plane!!!!! (well, maybe, speed not confirmed yet)

chumbucket - 2012-10-14

I'm guessing he did not do it, it felt like that chute came out a bit early.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-10-14

Don't worry, he still broke some amazing records today.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-10-14

I'm reading on CNN he hit Mach 1.24. Damn that's fast.

Badass. My favorite seen in this movie is the one where one of these guys takes some old-ass 1950s plane so high up into the atmosphere that for a moment he can see outer space through the canopy.
I also like the leather helmets. Reminds me of one the best things I heard in the Army: "we're all going to die, but I have a helmet!"

Old People - 2012-10-15

That is to say, favorite scene I seen.

That might have been Yeager too, he went 21 miles up in a rocket boosted F-104. IMHO that scene is a good analogy for his frustration at being shut out of the space program because NASA didn't want astronauts who took such independent risks.

Triumphant synths.

I LOVE this movie. My dad took me to see it in the theater, and at 10 years old, I was completely enthralled and amazed.

My Grandma lived in Tucson, and EVERY time we visited I insisted my dad take me to the Pima air & space museum. Last time pop & I went out to Tucson, it was to pack up grandma's house after she died. We also went to Pima.

Sorry...this clip set off a nostalgia bomb.
