Dickweeds.

Explodotron - 2012-08-31

Yours.

Bort - 2012-08-31

Yeah, I remember saying that a lot during Colin Baker's run.

memedumpster - 2012-08-31

Colin Baker had that episode with the minotaur robot, the Guy Ritchie style bad guys dialog, and the queen of the Raviolis, so it wasn't all bad.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-08-31

Meme, how could you forget his greatest nemesis: The robot made of candy?

StanleyPain - 2012-08-31

That was Sylvester McCoy.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-08-31

Ah. The bright colors made it hard to tell them apart. I also tend to lump all of post-Davidson pre-Ecclestone shows into one large painful mass.

StanleyPain - 2012-08-31

I watched all the Colin Baker episodes recently (they're all on YouTube) and honestly I think his era is very underrated. They were just as solid, for the most part, as Doctor Who tended to be...entertaining sci-fi stories with good characters. Really their only misstep was the Trial of the Timelord series (from which the Vervoids come) which involved each story being told at a trial rather than acted out in real-time. But, I enjoyed the Colin Baker period. It's too bad he was treated so bad by the BBC. The McCoy years I think were good too, but clearly the show would have improved even more had it not been cancelled.

He's actually one of my favorite Doctors. One day I will have that coat, and I can finally be rid of the remainder of my friends. Oh, to dream.

The local retro TV station is starting to air the Colin Baker episodes, and I have to agree, Colin Baker is tons better than I remember from decades ago. Since there's no chance I misjudged Colin Baker, I assume they remastered the collection.

One thing that's especially evident when viewed immediately after Peter Davison is that Colin Baker is actually trying to be entertaining: he verbally jousts, he comes up with interesting turns of phrase, he tries to make walking across the room interesting. Colin Baker isn't always likable, but maybe we're so used to unlikable leads these days that it's no longer off-putting.

Peri is still hard to take, though. Mel is no prize either. Anyone who complains about Clara, I say you need to watch some Colin Baker and reassess.

Aren't those the Cliteroids? Or am I thinking of the Vagisnatcherons?

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-08-31

Eventually, Doctor Who is able to defeat these monsters by exciting them to the point of paralysis.

memedumpster - 2012-08-31

I hope you realize that's actually what happens (except they vaporize instead of paralysis).

Though that one alien diplomat who appeared twice during the Pertwee era was even more phallic, even with all of the claw-arms:

Hit them in the head! It's the most sensitive area.

fedex - 2012-08-31

yes, hit them in the head over and over! and over!

Corpus Delectable - 2012-08-31

People watch this? Willingly?

boner - 2012-08-31

I waited for Garth Marenghi to appear.

Bort - 2013-09-11

Garth Marenghi would be more likely to do a story about vagina monsters brainwashing people to their tyrannical agenda.
