That's the first thing I noticed, too.

Cowards.

jangbones - 2012-08-30

you only noticed that because you are a racist who hates real science

chumbucket - 2012-08-30

Common sense disabled.

SixDigitDebt - 2012-08-31

Anything ike this that you can't respond to is by virtue immediately dismissable as bullshit.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-08-30

Proving once again that intelligence and stupidity are not mutually exclusive traits.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-08-30

They also proved Bill's theory that these people can't understand 'deep time'. Yes, that hummingbird is the way it is because it took 4 BILLION YEARS to develop it.

Yes, there is a mechanism to effect change in genetics. It's called mutation. Molecules aren't copied perfectly, and over time, those add up. Put Epigentics into the mix, and you too could create a hummingbird out of 'primordial soup'.

Five for fucking evil stupidity running rampant.

Quad9Damage - 2012-08-30

Yeah, remember that Earth is only 6,000 years old and that an invisible omnipotent bully made these things magically appear.

TeenerTot - 2012-08-30

I...I just can't. Ugh.

She can't believe because humans didn't witness it. THE BIBLE, however...

???

Rudy - 2012-08-30

That part made me slap my forehead so hard I think I concussed myself.

dead_cat - 2012-08-30

The bible is true because it says that it is the word of god. All those other religions' holy books, however, are not in spite of each of them saying the exact damn thing, because the bible says it's the world of god.

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP

fatatty - 2012-08-30

God, look at her stupid mouth.

spikestoyiu - 2012-08-30

I can't stop staring at it.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-30

Isn't that a sign of fetal alcohol syndrome? That and being a creationist.

Redford - 2012-08-31

HER MOUTH IS ALMOST AS STUPID AS HER

ZING

Change - 2012-08-30

She looks drugged.

Riskbreaker - 2012-08-30

and the drug is her love for jesus!

Or maybe just cocaine

cognitivedissonance - 2012-08-30

Cloudy drink kills frog.

dek863 - 2012-08-30

I'm confused. On one hand stupid mouth says that we should learn both, but old balls says evolution is superfluous? So basically we should learn evolution but it is useless.

Also, isn't the development of vaccines in response to the evolutionary development of viruses and bacteria?

5 for evil.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-08-30

No, they just keep putting on fake mustaches to fool the leukocytes. They're still the same old virus like they always were - like God created to punish us for our sins.

Riskbreaker - 2012-08-30

For such a "loving" god the man surely has come up with thousands of ways to kill it's beloved creation.

dead_cat - 2012-08-30

No, they mean teaching creationism, and teaching utter bullshit about the theory of evolution -- like that there's no intermediate species, or that it's a story about a fish having salamander children that had lizard children that had money children that had your grandpa.

And resistant bacteria are what they call "micro-evolution". Because they're still bacteria, see. The way they conceive of evolution, it would have to be bacteria producing something NON-BACTERIAL for it to be considered evolutionary change. So like a streptococcus aureus cell suddenly becoming a multicellular being, or a fungus, or something -- just becoming methicillin-resistant won't cut it.

Bort - 2012-08-31

The real sticking point fundamentalists have with evolution is that man evolved; if man were an exception to evolution, they wouldn't have any problem with it. So, the further you get away from man, the more allowance they're willing to give to some bits of evolution, like bacteria and "micro evolution". Or, evolution allowed multiple species to diverge a little from the very few animals Noah had on board, so they'll trot out evolution to support their beliefs just that one time. Of course they get the time scale and the mutation rates all wrong, but since when have facts ever gotten in the way of fundamentalism?

bluebeetle - 2012-08-30

There has to be a way to trick these people into not voting.

Koda Maja - 2012-08-30

Tie voting into the number of the beast somehow? Imply that those who vote won't be raptured.

I'm not quite sure, but your idea definitely warrants some brainstorming.

Syd Midnight - 2012-09-01

Unfortunately, there are a lot of very wealthy people who want them to vote.

Meatsack Jones - 2012-08-30

40%? What slice of the population was that taken from? Also, Brazil and Korea? Not a great set of pundits for a good reason to teach evolution.

Cena_mark - 2012-08-30

Don't forget the Muslim world. Funny how Christians will oppose them until they need a tag team partner in fighting Science.

dek863 - 2012-08-30

For some reason an image of dude with a turban and a dude with in black rope fighting a monkey man came to mind...

spikestoyiu - 2012-08-30

The majority in Brazil still believe in evolution.

"More than half (54 per cent) said humans developed over millions of years, but that a God planned and controlled the process."

The same goes for Korea. Only 33% don't believe in evolution. So yeah, America still leads the pack. USA! USA!

craptacular - 2012-08-30

5 stars for Cena Mark. i can't believe i just said that, but there you go.

Candlejackv616 - 2012-08-30

five for him as well solid comment, and he fit wrestling into it somewhat.

The Mothership - 2012-08-30

description sums it up.

Cena_mark - 2012-08-30

"But we have people with doctorates on our side."
Doctorates don't equal respect.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-08-30

And yet, funding those parallel schools is IMPORTANT, y'see.

mon666ster - 2012-08-30

Whoa whoa whoa! If there are creationists here in Canada, I've never met one. Or at least they don't admit it. It's not an election issue here at all. Don't go lumping us in with the you nutjobs and the "Muslim world" (i.e. the Taliban).

Change - 2012-08-30

So what you're saying is they're dumber than Canadians.

Kieran27 - 2012-08-30

Sadly, we have a few creationists here. The best example I can think of off the top of my head is Ian Juby. He made Canada's first creationist museum, the Creation Science Museum of Canada.

sven - 2012-08-30

Did the woman suffer a stroke before she signed up with the Creation Museum? Living in a fairly irreligious country, I can't really fathom any other reason for having your religion trump your science education.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-08-30

Money? Continued employment? Loved ones being held hostage?

Eroticus E - 2012-08-30

This stroke victim bitch said a bunch of words and I stopped watching.

Cena_mark - 2012-08-30

She really looks dead inside. I think part of her wants to vomit on those words.

John Salt - 2012-08-30

How did these people even manage to slime their way through undergrad?

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-08-30

Hey, I say we shouldn't stop at the Christian creation myth. Let's be fair and teach ALL the creation myths as if they're true.

takewithfood - 2012-08-30

Shouldn't take long!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_creation_myths

Oh.

Crackersmack - 2012-08-30

This women teaches people at a state university? The kind that you have to pay to attend, and that you expect to give you an education slightly better than the education you would get at Jesus College? Wow.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-08-30

http://creationwiki.org/Georgia_Purdom

I think that the schools listed for these People aren't where they teach, it's where they got their doctorates.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-08-30

It must be a trial sent from Gawd Hisself to have creationism stupidity rattling around a head that has a degree in molecular biology:

spikestoyiu - 2012-08-30

She teaches at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, which is a Christian University.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-08-30

But the earth DOES move around the sun, right? Will you give us that?

dead_cat - 2012-08-30

So long as the Earth can still be the center of the spiritual universe.

1394 - 2012-08-30

There's an Ohio State joke to be made here.

Gmork - 2012-08-30

flagged for scams/fraud

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-08-30

There's no rational explanation for dna moving from simple to complex. Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that God created everything with a wave of His might hand.

And why couldn't it be God's mighty hand that makes DNA go from simple to complex? It's important to note that these people aren't defending God. Lots of people believe in God AND evolution. They're defending a literal interpretation of a 3000 year old text. They're defending an absolutely inflexible world view where there is no room for mystery, and not much room for poetry.

Whenever I see something like this, I imagine God, sitting at his computer, facepalming. And yes, he looks like an old guy with a white beard, only he's in great shape physically. And he's using Linux.

Yeah, I know, this probably isn't what's actually happening. It's something that I imagine that expresses a way that I understand the universe. It's poetry. (Don't get all literal on me. It's a metaphor.) That's the kind of poetry these people are trying to kill, and there's a lot of poetry like that in Genesis that these dullards want to kill.

I want to look for a better word than poetry, but I have to go now.

spikestoyiu - 2012-08-30

All gaps in human knowledge are filled with God. When we didn't understand fire, it was God. When we maybe don't have the explanation for how or why DNA moves from simple to complex (I don't know -- do we? Get back to me when this is about jiu-jitsu or The Simpsons or something), it's God. Because we absolutely, positively cannot admit that maybe we just don't know something yet.

Sanest Man Alive - 2012-08-30

Such smug, willful ignorance. These pathetic shitstains defy their own human nature by trying to stifle all curiosity and all desire to understand the universe and its many mysteries. I do love Bill Nye, but there's no reasoning with people who choose to ignore reason at every turn.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-08-30

He wasn't trying to reason with them. He was trying to get a few less people to fill their kids' heads with bullshit.

Nikon - 2012-08-31

I hope Mr. Nye was successful.

memedumpster - 2012-08-31

There's no such thing as Desert Cult Hate Santa, no matter how much you think being a retard makes It exist by sheer force of fairy-clapping stupid.

heyitslozeau - 2012-08-31

MOOOOZELEM WORLD

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-09-01

Bill Nye says there are only crackpots in the US but there are crackpots ALL OVER THE WORLD!

Oh and you are NOT a good scientist, lady. You're a fucktard cult member and you spit on everything they tried to teach you at that cattle drop of a college you went to.

Also, computers are not observational science. And there is no proof that anything in the Bible happened. Stop calling things science that are not science. I repeat. You are fucking dumb, lady.

lordyam - 2012-09-01

aaaaahhhhh i cant even finish this
