This is a great episode, but this barely scratches the surface of it.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-08-23

Shut up, Lisa.

Xenocide - 2012-08-23

It's over, Caminante. Release me from your kung fu grip.

BHWW - 2012-08-23

Man, remember when the Simpsons were still good, except for the Lisa-centric episodes? Now they're all as bad as the old Lisa-centric episodes.

Xenocide - 2012-08-23

No, I don't. There wasn't one bad Lisa episode before season 9 or thereabouts.

At this point people love to jump up and start shouting about the vegetarian episode, forgetting that it had genius bits like "I'm not talking to you" and the anti-salad conga line.

Riskbreaker - 2012-08-23

What Xenocide said, this is from back when the show had consistency. Before they turned Homer from a clumsy but loving father to an obnoxious retarded, Lisa into a highly annoying character, Marge into a "sex symbol" and so on.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-23

Ehh, I saw some of those early to mid 90s episodes again recently and they didn't age well.

Corpus Delectable - 2012-08-23

I'm not hip enough to have opinions about The Simpsons. I just watch it and giggle like an idiot.

Louis Armstrong - 2012-08-23

Thats right Caminate, thinking give you wrinkles.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-23

I don't really have much opinion on it one way or the other, beyond feeling like "at least it's not Family Guy" isn't really adequate grounds for spending about half an hour of my life watching it.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-08-23

I feel the same way about South Park.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-23

Me too. I liked it for a couple of seasons when it first came on but after the whole "swearing on TV" novelty wore off it got boring pretty fast.

joelkazoo - 2012-08-23

I still watch South Park, but really hate it when it gets on its soapbox to espouse Trey's libertarian rants (it's a much better show when it's just being silly), and I gave up on The Simpsons the year they went HD, and don't miss them at all, knowing youtube will have the one or two funny jokes I can see without slogging through all the bullshit.

Harveyjames - 2012-08-24

It has SO aged well.

Lisa was always a great character. I figure the new generation of writers who grew up with The Simpsons don't really know what to do with her because, as someone said on here, the only time they want to see a six-year-old girl in a cartoon is if she's getting fucked.

There's now more bad seasons of The Simpsons than there were ever good ones, which is sad, but it's even sadder that people need to be reminded it was ever good in the first place.

FABIO - 2012-08-24

Only pedophiles hate Lisa? Whaaaaa?

The first season or two of South Park only had swearing going for it, but seasons 3-7 were pretty good. Some people with an insane knee jerk grudge will go into a ranting frenzy any time this is said because a couple episodes have some libertarian message. Whatever. There's not much reasoning with people who can't find Chimpokemon or Good Times with Weapons funny.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2012-08-24

I think their portrayal of Smithers in this episode might have hit a little too close to home

Cherry Pop Culture - 2012-08-24

I always liked Lisa and this is one of the better episodes. I may be biased because I grew up with Barbie dolls.
