Actually one trend I dont like in modern computer games is trying to achieve more and more realistic graphics. I dont see the point of making a virtual world and then trying to make it look just like this one.
This kinda stuff is more interesting imo + computers are *good* at rendering huge shiny metal planes and such.

They remind people that sometimes, it is ok (and extremely commercially viable) to just look like a computer game.
